Chapter 8

Nick and I both stood up, "what!?" The king looked surprised, perhaps he was gauging a different reaction? His eyes softened, "well, you see; Harper's mother was the original queen to this kingdom. Since she left, I became king but Celestivia is still queen, well 'was', still queen. Since she died, the kingdom has been passed down to Harper. Now her father, King Mitus, made me king so Nickolas is heir to the throne. You, Gabriella, is not an heir to the whole kingdom, only a portion of it. It is really that Harper and Nick are to be married, because of Harper's absence, you were supposed to marry Nick but now the Miss Gold is here, she can marry my son." Gabriella wailed, "NO!" The king finally snapped at Gabriella for her annoying cries, "Miss Alcance shut up! You and I both know that you do not truthfully love my son and you just love the favct of being Queen over all of Celestivia! Now get out of my office, you will stay until the night of the festival and next morning, you will leave to meet your new fiancé. Nickolas and Harper, stay; Gabriella, you may go." Nick looked taken aback as Gabriella growled, "ughhhh fine. I will be back though and not to sit and have tea but to retake what is rightfully mine.....and it is not my former husband." 

I gasped, I knew she just wanted the kingdom. Nick sunk in his seat, broken hearted. I felt bad for him, having someone you love threaten to take over you birth right after they said that they don't reciprocate your feelings.....okay I don't know what that feels like but I could only imagine though. Nick's eyes turned glassy as he stood and looked at his father, "Yes father. I understand you want what is best for the kingdom and so do I. I will take Harper as my bride for the kingdom's sake." I stood, "uh- yeah, what he said...i'll take Nick as my husband just for Celestivia." The king nodded towards Nick, "you may go my son" Nickolas glanced at me with his now nearly black eyes, making me flinch under his harsh gaze; was marring me that bad? When Nick finally stomped out of the king's study, Soren sighed, "I knew Gabriella wasn't fit for my son the day I met her. She didn't have the warmth and kindness like you did when I met you. You had this fire in your eyes, the confidence and strength of a warrior and the understanding of a true queen." My heart swelled with warmth at the king's kind words, I bowed my head to him "thank you your majesty.   may I leave?" He nodded, "Just remember Princess Harper, Nickolas is a broken boy who grew up under a lot of pressure. Take it easy on him, he my seem like an adult but on the inside; that's a different story." I nodded silently and exited Soren's study, a lot has happened this week to me and now the bomb of a lifetime, I'm getting married. I quickly and quietly ran back to my room, as I entered Angie enveloped my in a hug. "i'm guessing you heard what happened?" She nodded sadly, "honey the whole kingdom heard her rants. She even yelled at a guard who was escorting her to her room! She is crazy." I Sniffled, "she's a pure bitch. My world is crashing down and I need to sacrifice so much to save this place." Angie rubbed soothing circles in my back, "there is a concept called cheating you know-" I glared at her, "you are a horrible friend." she laughed, "I love you too Harper" I smiled and shook my head at her and lay on my bed, "Let me sleep on it for a while hmm?" she nodded and went to the bathroom. My eyelids eventually got heavy and I succumbed to sleep.

My dreams were even more disturbing than today's events. I dreamt I was by a river, it was gushing water down the hillside, not too fast but not calmly. I decided to take a dip, as I entered the water, instead of the calming water; blood coated my skin. in confusion, I looked at the water to see it as blood I gasped; how? I looked around and saw Angie, Nick, Soren, my mom, my dad, Granny, Tanya and a bunch of other people I didn't know. A voice erupted from behind me, "if you fail, you will have the blood of these people on you; you'll be bathed in blood for think of all of this as a joke." Tears streamed down my face as I looked at everyone who was now screaming in pain, the voice spoke again, "you see; you caused all their pain and suffering." I glared at the sky, "I did nothing!" The voice became quiet along with the other people's screams. Then a soft whisper rang in my head, "exactly. proves my point." My eyes flew open and I was sitting on my bed, sweating and panting hard. A startled Angie was staring at me, "bad dreams?" I closed my eyes, "you have no idea." Feeling as though I had the blood all over me again, I got up and took a shower, the warm  water relaxed my muscles immediately. I sighed and continued my shower until I heard a soft knock on my bedroom door. I heard some mumbling and then the soft click of the door closing again, wonder who that is? After I was finished with my shower, I walked into my room wearing a black hoodie and some short shorts. "who was at the door?" I asked Angie, drying my platinum blonde hair with a towel. She wiggled her eyebrows at me, "Nickolas came to say that since he isn't busy anymore, you two will be training before dinner; which is in like three hours." I groaned and rolled my eyes, "oh goody!" I slipped on my adidas sneakers I had and walked out of the room to the arena. This ought to be an interesting training session.
