Chapter 10

 " I fell in love with Gabriella while I was in Аутсайдера dudgeon." He said. I tilted my head, "what do you mean?" He looked up at me with sad, broken eyes " When I was 15, I was kidnapped a lot with a few other royals by the Аутсайдера. It was me, Gabriella, m-my cousin and another girl. My cousin died in a public beating, and the other girl...she committed suicide. Gabs and I vowed to survive and escape together and in that time, I fell in love with her ways. Little did I know it was just a façade on how angry and frustrated she was. a year later, we escaped and got help, my father attacked Аутсайдера just to save me and Gabby. When we were free, my father decided to make me marry her since the both of us were pretty close and we were closed off to the whole world except each other, it seemed fit that we married. The both of us liked that idea but Gabriella seem way too excited, I was just to blind to see it. Today, when I learned that Gabby and I weren't going to spend the rest of our lives together, memories of the kidnapping escaped and I felt everything over again. But with you, I feel calm; you're like the men my father sent to retrieve me. I feel hope and joy with you but with Gabby, now that I think about it, I just felt like we were really good friends and a familiarity." 

I was shocked by this story, Nickolas went through all of this? And I thought I had a messed up childhood, I felt so very sorry for Nick and I didn't blame him for acting the way he did; except when he overreacted in the arena. I cleared my throat, "why did you act like that in the arena?" He chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his neck, "uh- I remembered when the Аутсайдера people used to torture and beat us. Sorry if I got mad ad lost my temper, it was an accident and accidents happen, you l that tends to happen when you clear your mind. Battle instincts." I nodded and awkward silence filled the gap between us, I nervously opened my arms and wrapped the around Nick's waist. He froze for a split second before wrapping his strong arms around my tiny frame. we stayed like that for a little while until we pulled away. He smiled warmly at me, "I should get back- or do you want to continue the training?" I shrugged, "lets get back to training. we only have like, one more day until the festival." He gave a firm nod and you held up your index finger, signaling him that you would be right back. I dashed into the bedroom to see Angie staring out the window, "Angie?" You called but whatever she was staring at, she was to distracted to hear you. I walked up behind her and pushed her shoulder a little, "Angie!" She jumped and closed the curtains in an instant, "Oh goodness Harper! Don't scare me like that, geez." I gave her a puzzled look, "I called your name before pushing you...what were you staring at?" She blushed, "Nothing. what did you want to tell me?" I raised my eyebrow at her, "I'm going back to the arena with Nick to continue some training." She nodded and went into the bathroom, 'that was weird, what was she looking at?' I thought to myself as I peeped through the curtain. All I saw was the snow- covered castle garden with a few guards in the area, what exactly were you staring at Angie? I brushed the thought aside and exited the room to see Nick leant up on the side of the door, "ready?" he said. I nodded and we both walked to the arena. We continued to train until dinner time, and this time, I had everything under control. I was starving by the time dinner came, Nick said that was normal after those battlely thingies. I didn't see Gabriella in the mess hall that night, "where could she be?" I mumbled to myself. "hmm?" Angie hummed next to me as if in a daze. I frowned at her, "what is up with you?" I followed her line of sight to see her staring at Nick's personal guard. I assume the two were close, they would sit and eat together and I had often seen them talking together in the halls. I waved my hand in front of Angie's face and she snapped out of her trance, "Nickolas's guard caught you eye?" She blushed, "n-no! what made you say that?" I rolled my eyes and took a bite in my food, "you've stared at him all through dinner, you were stalking him today in the garden and you have been slipping off during the day." She covered her face with her hands, "is it that obvious?" I hummed in response, "you need to go and start making friends. You can't just sit here looking like a creep." She gasped and hit me on my shoulder playfully, "shut up and eat your food." I chuckled and stood, "I'm going to bed early, see ya'" She nodded and I walked towards my room. I had to think of a plan to get those two together because I did not miss the glances the guard gave Angie, and I knew the right person to help me; Nick. Looks like I'd have to pay him a visit tonight.
