Chapter 38 - Shadows and Diablos

[Y/N's] POV -

We both landed back in Astera just as quickly as we left.

It was unfortunate that we couldn't fight that Diablos.

I did have a feeling that one good hit from it's horns would spell the end for any of us.

It looks like something if happening. New monsters appearing randomly. It's not normal.

There'll be a meeting about it. It wouldn't go unnoticed.

Any new threats aren't treated lightly...so a few at once is going be like Like Zorah Magdaros all over again.

Emily was just a bit ahead of my but still had a slightly concerned luck on her face.

'You okay? Still got that feeling?' I asked.

'Yeah. It's like...thousands of butterflies in my stomach now.'

'Isn't that just normal when your nervous about something?'

'I-I think so. But why am I nervous? I don't get it.'

I caught up to her and put my arm around her.

'Well...how can I help?'

'Your helping just by being here.' She said smiling at me.

I laughed and smiled at her.

'You know how to make people smile.' I said.

She smiled back,

'You too.'

We both walked back to the Commander's table.

But as we approached, we saw that he was talking to the Admiral.

The Field Team Leader was near them and he saw us.

He waved his hand at us.

'Is he waving us off?' I asked.

'I think so.' Emily replied.

We both hesitantly began to walk back.

The Field Team Leader looked back to the meeting.

'Guess we were right?' I said.

Emily nodded and we walked away from the table.

'Well...what do we-' I said.

I was cut off my Emily nudging my shoulder.

She pointed over at something.

It was [P/N]...with another Palico.

I laughed with Emily.

'It's like you and me.' She said.

We were cuddled up to each other as [P/N] looked over at us.

Immediately [P/N] scratched the back of its head.

The other Palico looked over and laughed.

Me and Emily both turned and walked off.

'I hope it works out.' I said.

'It worked for us.' Emily said.

We walked over to a support beam and Emily leant against it.

'Well...what do we do now?' I asked.

'I'm...not sure.' She replied.

'There you are!' A voice called out.

I turned around to see Rachel.

'Oh Hey Rachel. How's things?' I asked.

Before I could react, Rachel threw her arms around me and gave me a hug.
