Best Of The Fifth

Chapter 1 - After

!STORY SPOILERS AHEAD!

No POV -

After the party celebrating the discovery and Defeat of Xeno'Jiiva and the Fifth Fleet remaining at Astera, [Y/N] had wondered what he should do.....

He could get some new armour, some new weapons or some new charms. He had wanted to get a set of Odogaron armour for quite a while now, but after the encounter with one when he arrived at the Rotten Vale with Emily for the first time, he had always had thoughts on how lucky they were, either one of them could've died easily. Which always put him off going out and hunting another one.

Which lead him on to think of Emily herself. He had fallen for her more recently as they hunted monsters and explored The New World. He had taken a liking to her as soon as they met on that ship, and they were able to survive the encounter with Zorah Magdaros. Something about her was just so.... perfect. He thought about her every time he left a camp to go and complete a mission. When he had to go on a hunt for one of the bigger monsters that roam the New World, such as a Teostra, he'd think back on the times that he and Emily had together so far. This what what kept him going, what kept him fighting, kept him relaxed, and ready for any job thrown his way.

*Next Morning After Party*

[Y/N's] POV -

'Here we go again.' I thought to myself. I had been tasked with finding an unusually powerful Pukei-Pukei. Nothing too difficult but, then again, I can't say No to the Commander, so it needs to be done.

I Grabbed my 'Indigo' Wyvern Blade, some Antidotes along with a Shock Trap and some Tranq bombs. I couldn't be bothered to finish this fight, so I'd just capture it when I get the first opportunity.

After I gathered all of the items I needed, I whistled my Palico.....nothing. I tried again, still nothing.

'Great, just what I need.' I said under my breath.

'[P/N!!!!!!] Where Are You?! We Need to go!!' I shouted. Still no answer though.

I headed out of my room to try and find Emily, maybe she knew anything about where [P/N] was. I'd take anything as an opportunity to talk to her some more.

10 Minute Time Skip

'Emily!! Emily!!' I continued to shout.

There's no way that she can't hear me. The whole of Astera could probably hear me. Still, no answer from her. I just got a bunch of weird looks, including one from the Field Team Leader.

'Hey man, you looking for your Handler?'

'Yeah, I need to head out to hunt that Pukei-Pukei but I can't find my Palico....or Emily for that matter.'

'I think they're in the Canteen. If not they've probably headed out to the Ancient Forest already.'

'Awesome, thanks' I nodded and headed towards the Canteen.

I headed up the spiral stair case, next to our own Tree in the Botanical Centre. Something about that tree is calming, but it's completely over shadowed by the tree in the Ancient Forest, but still, it's nice to have our own tree in Astera.

When I got to the Canteen, there was no one there. I did notice an empty plate, which is near the seat where Emily normally sits. I walked up to the plate and noticed a note tucked away under the plate.

I grabbed it and immediately notice the handwriting as Emily's.

Dear [Y/N]

I waited for you in the Canteen before we went to the Ancient Forest. But, I REALLY wanted to go and see the Sunrise from the Camp we've got. I'll wait for you there. I grabbed [P/N] for some company too.

Don't forget to eat! I've already given the Chef a voucher for you!

'Oh okay, leave without me!' I thought to myself, chuckling slightly.

I ordered the Chef's Choice Platter and demolished it. Nothing I can't manage. I thanked the chef with a small nod, which he recognised.

I headed back down the spiral stairs, and towards the gate. I passed a sleeping Black Diablos that I was able to Tranq and bring into Astera. One of my best fights and best captures.

With one Whistle, my Wyvern flew overhead and I hooked onto it, allowing it to carry me towards the Ancient Forest.

'Hope She hasn't run into any trouble' I thought to myself, blocking out my worst thoughts of a much bigger threat being at the Forest. There had been some reports of Deviljho tracks around, but no one had sighted it yet, meaning I had to be extra vigilant.

Even though the flight was short, I still thought about Emily, Her brown, bouncy hair, the goggles she always wears, and her brown eyes. She was just perfect, and I need her to be mine.

As soon as I hear her cheery voice, I'll be happy. As always.

Sorry for the slow build up, but I wanted to have a clear story set out for your character. Also, this is my first time writing so I guess I'm trying what works for me.

I will be able to make longer chapters when I am finished with my Exams, but I will still try to post some chapters while they are going on
