"It was her all along"
San and Wooyoung looked at each other, not sure what to do with the new information they had found. The silence lasted for a long time, both of them being too shocked to say anything until Wooyoung decided to voice his opinion on the matter.
"How could Aphrodite be so blind?!" he exclaimed "She's the one who's putting the life of her own son in danger! All this time, she thought that by forbidding him love she was protecting him when, in reality, the only one he needed protection for was herself!"
"Maybe she just misinterpreted the prophecy" San suggested.
"Or decided to ignore its real meaning. I have known her for a really long time and let me tell you, Aphrodite is one stubborn goddess; she believes she can do no evil and everything she does is for the better good. Guess she gets it from her father..."
San tapped his fingers on the armrest, debating with himself what was the right thing to do in that situation. They had to discuss everything with the others and make up a plan to divert Aphrodite's attempts to Carys' life. But was it possible to escape what the future had prepared for them?
"Maybe if someone spoke to her...tried to make her understand..."
"She won't listen to us. She'll think we're just trying to fool her into giving up"
"Not if we get the right person to do it"
"Zeus? I don't think we should involve him in this..."
"I was not talking about him" San studied the god's reaction before speaking again "It feels weird just saying it, but maybe Aphrodite could use some parenting tips from...Ares?"
Wooyoung stared at him in disbelief. It was a crazy idea, but Ares was Seonghwa's father after all. Not to mention the fact that maybe he was the only one that was just as stubborn as her, and he would have done anything for his children, even antagonize his own partner: he was the god of war, after all.
"This is crazy talking, San. He likes spending a lot of time undercover on Earth and not even Zeus knows where he is right now! How do you expect us to find him?"
"I know, but Phobos and Deimos are always with him, right? If we find them, then it's done!""That is a big if we're talking about...but it could work" Wooyoung said, causing San to get up and run into his lap to hug him.
"We'll talk to the others tonight. I just hope they'll agree with us" he stated, running his hand through San's hair.
"They will. Now, I'll write the correct prophecy down and we'll show it to Seonghwa. We must act quickly before Aphrodite finds out"
***********************
That night, Carys knew something big was going to happen. Seonghwa had told her everything, from the prophecy about him to the attempts his mother had made to separate them. And needless to say, she was scared, at first: never in her life she would've thought that she would've been in this situation. Hell, she never even believed Greek gods existed until that moment. But there she was, having a relationship with one, and having his mother basically attempting to her life for it. However, when Seonghwa told her that he had many friends that were willing to help him, she felt a bit better: at least they weren't completely alone. That's why she had accepted to go with him to meet the other gods that very night.
So, there she was, sitting in Seonghwa's car as he was driving towards the pine forest near the beach. One of his hands was caressing her thigh, eventually intertwining his hand with hers to comfort her.
