Fatima's POV
After making sure that I have done enough damage, I leave the sitting room. Halli drags me to her room."What have you done Teemah! I told you we won't do anything!" I roll my eyes.
"Halli if I hadn't done that she would still do something like that again. Humans are like that sis, sometimes you have to put them in their place."
We hear the door bell and Halli's demeanor contort to that of worry.
"Oh no." Halli rushes out and I follow close behind her.
She opens the door and Sophie's mum is standing there. We greet her and she manages a fake smile. We let her in and she takes a seat, tapping her leg on the carpeted floor.
"Let me call mummy and daddy." Halima smiles but she stops her, saying that she is here to see her husband and take Sophie back home with her.
When Sophie comes downstairs she is looking as calm as ever. I mutter hypocrite, making Halli glare at me. Immediately she sets her foot on the carpet her mom slaps ber hard. Halli flinches and I roll my eyes at Halli. Why is she being all soft? Even the Prophet said if someone wrongs you and you can't forgive them wrong them back.
Sophie is already crying. I don't know if it's the sound of the slap or something else, but within the twinkle of an eye, everyone is in the parlor. Mummy rushes and holds Sophie's mum.
"Haba Fauziyya." mummy drags Sophie's mum away.
"Take Safiyya up stairs." Daddy says and we do as told. Once we are out of the parents' sight, I release her making her drop with a loud thud which thankfully doesn't echo.
I sanitize my hand making Halli glare at me. Some minutes later, we hear Aunty Fauzzy shout Sophie's name that she should get her things, she's leaving this moment. We get called again and by the time we all go downstairs, Aunty Fauzzy is calm as sea in the morning.
We all sit down in the parlor and then the drama continues.
"Why safiyya? Why did you choose one random boy over your own blood? And were you in your right senses when you opened your mouth and told a boy you loved him!? Was it foolishness that made you do all that or did you just wanna make a mockery of me?" Aunty Fauzzy questions angrily. Mummy places a hand on her shoulder to calm her down.
"Mum I swear I didn't tell the boy ai love him. He saw me and sis Halima strolling together and then he offered us a lift. When sis Halima entered the car, I followed suit. When he was about to drop us, he asked for both our numbers and we gave him. He then chatted me up through whatsapp and said he loved me." Oh my God this girl is a pro when it comes to lying.
"I hope you remember the fact that I hate lies? Stop trying to lie because I know every bit of the truth. I know about the fact that you had told him you loved him and when he said that you are too small for him, you said that you would commit suicide. You even took a pic of poison in your hands and sent it to him proving that you meant every word you said. I also know that when Halima here found out and asked why you betrayed her you said that it is because you are jealous of her." Mummy and Daddy who have been quiet make some noises which sound like grunts.
"All what your dad and I do to you isn't enough right!? You just have to go about shaming us. I'm even ashamed to call you my daughter. But guess what, I won't beat you. You said you love the boy right? Now you will get married in the next three years. That is, when you'll be turning sixteen. You won't go to school anymore because I'll personally get a lesson teacher for you. You won't step out of the house till your wedding day. And lastly I get to choose who you'll marry and you'll do nothing other than accept the person. And i mean every single word i said. Every one of it. Now get your things and take them to the car." the gasps and surprised noises we all make don't even make a difference to Aunty Fauzzy.
"Lest I forget, give me your phone and when we reach home I'll take all your gadgets away from you. The only gadget you'll have access to is a computer system which will be programmed only for learning. Bid your cousin and your friend goodbye because you might not see them again except when they come to visit." Aunty Fauzzy leaved the parlor with tears in her eyes. She must really be ashamed of her daughter.
Everyone is surprised at her reaction. She's a kind of person that always goes overboard with everything. And she always keeps to her word, always. But now, I feel bad for what I did. Because of my actions, poor Safiyya will suffer. I feel really bad for her.Maybe this is what Halli was trying to avoid.
Halli touch my shoulder and signals me to go upstairs. I go there and meet her consoling safiyya. After an hour of consolation, we help safiyya get her things out and I apologize for what I did.
Maybe if I had listened to Halli or tried to understand what she was trying to avoid all this wouldn't have happened. I sigh and stop Halli from leaving the room.
"I didn't know it would turn out like this. I'm very sorry. I didn't mean for all this to happen. You know that I won't do this with any bad intentions right?" Halli sigh.
"Staying angry at you for this won't help. I think there's a way we can help Sophie."
