"Hey Q, can I have a word?" Charlie ducked his head into the kitchen seeing his daughter amongst her aunts and cousins as she helped mash potatoes in a pot.
"Oh sure." She wiped her hands on her apron and fixed the ponytail that was falling loose. She followed her father out onto the porch of the borrow where he passed her, her boots and coat.
She followed him, down a path into the small wooded area behind the home and listened as he began to talk. "I wanted to talk to you about a rather fragile subject." Charlie began, not looking at his daughter as the snow landed on their hair and noses. "Dad what's going on?...is this about me and Teddy, because he's been really sweet and I'm really happy-."
"No it's not about you and Teddy, though I do think we should talk about that after....it's about me....I....I've met someone." He spoke slowly looking to her as he finished to gage her reaction. "Oh." She said, her face was neutral, showing no emotion.
She was surprised this was brought up now but she wasn't mad, or happy or sad, or overjoyed. She was just neutral.
"She's a trainer....we've been working together for years...she's really lovely, but I wanted to make sure you were ok with it before I made anything serious." "How long have you been going out with her?" Quinn asked listening intently. "A few months. But like I say I've known her for years-." She cut her dad off.
"I'm happy for you dad." She spoke with a small smile. "Really?...because there is no way Morgan will ever replace your mum and this isn't me forgetting about her, but Quinny it's been nearly 18 years."
"Dad I get it." Quinn stopped walking abruptly staring at her dad as snow fell around them and into the branches of the trees that surrounded them. "I'm really happy for you. Really happy. So her names Morgan?" Quinn's dad smiled down at her, he pulled her into a hug and then he linked their arms as they walked.
"Yeah, she's from Ireland. She joined the team back when you were in your fourth year. She's been my partner for about a year." "Well I can't wait to meet her. So she's officially your girlfriend?"
"You'll meet her soon enough, maybe this summer before you and Teddy leave? Yes she's my girlfriend." Charlie chuckled at the wink his daughter sent him as they turned around and headed back towards the house.
"Now about you and Teddy-." "Dad we came out to talk about your relationship not mine." "I'm your dad, why didn't you tell me?" "Cause I was scared you'd threaten to hex the poor boy."
"Well even if he is family, if he hurts you he's still getting hexed." Charlie told her as they reached the end of the woods and moved into the field across from the house. "Merlin dad."
It was now after lunch on Christmas Day and the adults had remained in the kitchen to clean up while the children had collapsed into chairs and onto pillows on the floor of the burrow's sitting room.
James and Fred sat lazily playing with a snitch, while Roxanne and Louis sat discussing sweets beside them on the sofa.
Across from them on the other sofa Victoria sat braiding Lucy's hair with the help of Molly while Dominique sat on the floor beside Lucy and painted her own nails.
Lily was sat beside Dom watching her paint while Hugo was engaged in a match of wizards chess with Albus. Rose sat near them reading while on an arm chair across the room, Teddy and Quinn sat together talking about their plans for September.
"So we're flying from Heathrow to Berlin and spending a month travelling around Germany then we're getting a train across the boarder to Poland, starting in Warsaw and moving down to Krakow. Staying in those cities for a week each." Quinn recited the plan then Teddy continued.
"Then by November we'll be on a train to Budapest and we're only spending two weeks in Hungary before we're getting a train through to Bulgaria for another two weeks?"
"Yeah then Stacy's sorted out transfer flights back to Rome and we're spending all of December touring Italy." Quinn told him. He nodded taking a mental note.
"Then we're getting a ferry to Athens and spending January touring Greece?" Teddy again recited what he had been told as almost a question.
"Perfect, then we're flying for seven hours into Dubai and staying there for a week, then we have a transfer flight to Thailand for three weeks." She told him.
"Right and that will bring us to March, when we're flying to?..." "Australia." She reminded him. "Australia for March, then?" Teddy clearly hadn't been listening on the train.
"Then it's off to the states for April and May." She told him. "Wow two months." He said surprised by their plan. "Yep then we're spending June in the Caribbean. Starting in Jamaica."
"Ok then we're home in July?" "No we're stopping in Paris for a week, then we're back." She told him.
Their whole plan was going to mean a full Callander and a fun year. But they were so excited. "It's gonna be so fun." She grinned making him smile.
"Yeah it is." He reached your to give her a quick kiss and she smiled into it. "Well I for one can't wait." She said happily.
They kissed again but this time they were interrupted by a flash and the sound of a Polaroid camera.
Rose sat across the room grinning evilly at them, "what? you two looked so cute." The small red head called to her older cousin and her boyfriend.
She pulled out the picture and showed the room.

"Awww. Queddy is so cute." Molly gushed snatching the photo from Rose. "I thought I said that wasn't to be spoken of again!" Quinn snapped her head to Victoria who shrugged. "What? We all ship Queddy."
