Was it real, or not?♔♔♔
"Almost there," Carlos assured me, as he covered my eyes and led me through the forest.
I slipped once or twice, but he always caught me. I was so excited. He finally stopped me, and rubbed my arm. "Open them."
I opened my eyes and gasped. There stood my most favorite tree in the forest. It was amazing to climb, and had the perfect built-in seats of branches. I would usually climb up there and read or write or draw. It was an easy place for me to get away from being a princess for a while. It was my favorite place in all of Auradon. But, how did Carlos know about it?
I looked back and up at him."How did you-"
"I had some help from Ben," he replied. "I also have food," he winked at me.
I laughed. "I'm not sure you could top that cookie."
"Oh, um yeah..." he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. Was he regretting giving me that cookie?
He walked over behind the tree as I climbed it. He pulled a picnic basket and a blanket from behind the tree, and started setting it up. When he was finished, he climbed up in the tree with me. "Chocolate?" He smirked, pulling a bar from behind his back and offering it to me. I took it and broke off a piece for him.
"Most important food group," we said together, not meaning to. We smiled.I looked down at Dude, who had followed us there. "Well, you probably know all about me from all the people at Auradon," I told him, rolling my eyes. "But what about you? Who is Carlos de Vil?"
He sighed and thought for a moment, taking a bite of his chocolate. "Well, I'm an only child, I'm pretty much my mother's slave, and I've never really had anyone in my life who has actually cared about me," he sighed. I grabbed his hand.
"Now you do."He smiled, and blushed. "But, I do want to know about you," he replied. "Sure, I might have heard some things, but I want to hear who you are, from you," he looked into my eyes.
The only people who I had felt actually wanted to know me were Lonnie, Doug and Ben. Everyone else just seemed like fakes who wanted something out of me. Don't get me wrong, everybody is pretty nice to me, but I never really know who I can trust. But the VKs were different. Carlos, he wasn't like the people who I had gone to school with. He wanted to know me. I could trust him.
"Well, I'm not your average princess. I've always wanted to sword fight, and I actually like bugs," I told him. He laughed. "And, I've always wanted to visit the Isle."
His eyes got wide, and he responded hesitantly."I'm not sure you do..." he said.
"No, I do," I told him. "I've always been told by my father that we are either good, or bad, but I just don't see it that way. I want to experience both sides, 'cause I know that there are good people on the Isle. I mean, wearing a crown doesn't make you a princess," I told him.
"Wellll...." he smiled. "It kind of does."We laughed, but I got back to the point. "No, it's...." I tried to find the right words. "Your mother is a puppy knapper who uses you for her chores, and I've got the poster parents for goodness," I told him.
He looked at me, slightly lost. "But we're not automatically like them. We get to choose who we're gonna be," I explained. I leaned closer to him, and looked into his eyes. He smiled a little, and held my hand. "And right now, I can look into your eyes and I can tell you're not evil. I can see it."
He smiled a little more. He was so adorable. It was true though. He wasn't evil. His kind brown eyes explained it all. I was really hoping it wasn't just the love spell.
