Chapter 6: Confusion

ZION's POV

I was actually disappointed in learning the truth that the Kassie I wanted to meet again, is none other than, Dara Ruiz. And not just any artist, but a well-known artist in the country. She wouldn't be titled as young empress for nothing. Sikat siya, sikat na sikat!

And most probably, out of 10 people, I am the only 1% who's not interested in her. And I really mean it. Not just in her, but the whole entertainment industry.

Kaya pinaubaya ko na ang entertainment subsidiary namin sa ibang director. Because I don't really wanna get involved in that field. Tapos malalaman ko na ang babaeng nakakuha ng atensiyon ko ay nasa gaanong propesyon? 'Damn! Is this your doing again, huh Destiny? '

"Boss"- biglang bulong ni Adan-"tapos na po silang magreport at hinihintay na po ang sagot niyo."

Napabalik tuloy ako sa reyalidad at napaayos nang upo. Nasa meeting nga pala ako. The moment I heard Dara's name kasi, bigla na namang nabuhay ang disappointment na nararamdaman ko.

That day nang malaman kong isa siyang sikat na artista, walang oras na hindi ko namumura ang sarili ko because I have let my guard down. I promised to myself, I will never ever entangled myself again with her kind. Kaya gano'n na lang ang pagkadismaya ko nang malaman kong galing din pala si Kassie sa mundong iyon.

I cleared my throat and glanced around saka tumitig sa projector na nasa harapan ko. Dara Ruiz' smiling photo is flashed on the screen. Damn! Can I just reject her right away?

"What do you think, Director Garcia?" I asked. He's the director of the Media and Arts Division. I was really hoping he will reject the proposal.

Tila nag-isip naman ito bago nagsalita, "Well, the team actually proposed something nice. I mean, good choice that it was Dara Ruiz again. But have you guys forgotten that we were being rejected many times by her?" saad nito. I frowned at that statement. This is not what I expected. I thought we're the one who will turn her down and not the other way around.

"Rejected?" ulit ko sa sinabi nito. I can't believe what I just heard.

"Yes, Mr. President. She rejects us everytime we wanted to hire her. Be it commercials or just simply an ad." Nakakunot-noo pa rin akong nakatingin dito at hinihintay ang dahilan kung bakit. "And the reason is unclear," dugtong nito.

"Unclear?" tila nabibingi ako sa pag-ulit na naman nang sinabi nito. Tumango lamang ito at nagkibit-balikat. "Have her agency explained why they were rejecting our offer?" Umiling naman ito bilang sagot.

Curious tuloy akong napatitig sa litrato nito na nasa screen, 'What is it that you dislike in my company, Dara?' Mahinang bulong ko.

And I came to a decision. "Okay, draft the contract and bring it to my office." Namilog naman ang mata ni Director Garcia sa tinuran ko pero tinanguan ko lamang siya saka na tumayo at naglakad palabas ng meeting room.

Ngunit di ko inaasahan ang ginawa nitong paghabol sa akin. "Zion, hindi mo ba narinig ang sinabi ko?" wika nito habang sinasabayan akong maglakad pa-opisina ko.

"Narinig ko Director Garcia."

"Then, why do you still want to draft the contract?" giit na tanong nito.

"I just want to experience the rumor myself. Kung talaga bang tinatanggihan ni Dara Ruiz ang offer natin." Saka ko siya tinapik sa balikat. Napapailing naman itong napatigil na lang while looking at me in disbelief. I just smirked at him saka na pumasok sa opisina ko.
