Chapter 15: Chairman Ruiz

KASSANDRA's POV

I heard gasps of horror from the bystanders when the loud noise from the rushing car took over the peaceful night. Maybe they were taken by surprise as the car didn't stop and even increased its speed. 'Did the car lose its breaks?'

I can't really tell. It was fast and nerve-racking. I can feel my heartbeat racing and pounding hard. I firmly shut my eyes and huddled up in Zion's arms. And waited for that plunge.

I heard him groaned as we hit the hard surface, yet he still manage to asked, "Are you alright?"

But I didn't answer him. As I was recounting that near death experienced. And was completely taken aback by his concern.

Then I felt him move. He slowly rose from the ground while still hugging me, gently as he can be.

I slowly opened my eyes when I felt him stop and creased my brows. Immediately, I searched for his eyes and read them. Tama ba ang nakikita ko? Nag-aalala siya ng sobra? Then my mind repeated it. 'He cares so much?'

Then rather making a fuss about how painful the fall was, he asked me again, "May masakit ba sa'yo?"

I blinked a few times. 'Why was he asking me? I should be the one asking him that.'

I just shook my head to not make him worry. Masyado siyang g'wapo sa gabing ito para mag-alala lamang siya ng sobra.

"Good," he said and helped me get up.

Then he let go of my hand and took something from his coat.

I briefly stared at him and withdrew my gaze. Then I checked myself and fixed my dress. Good thing, I was wearing a jumpsuit, and it was long enough to cover my legs. Because with that sudden fall? I might probably get wounded.

"Are you sure you're really okay?" he asked again. I gave him a warm smile to ease his worry.

Then I approached him. His eyes furrowed while scanning me from head to toe. I felt kilig because he can't rest his worry so I let out a giggle.

He looked at me puzzled, maybe giggling at this situation isn't convenient, but then I can't help it. I just reached for his brows and straightened them with my fingers. "There," I said. Naramdaman kong natigilan siya dahil sa ginawa kong iyon pero hindi pa rin niya inalis ang pagkakatitig sa 'kin.

Then he let out a sigh and held me at my waist. And before I could react, he hugged me tight. Nagulat ako sa ginawa nito and instantly, I held my breath, afraid he might hear my pounding heart. For I think even someone from afar can hear it, like galloping horses, happily roaming the night. 'Gosh Zion! You are making me blush!'

But then I heard the clicking noise of cameras and felt flashes of it. I felt dismay and pursed my lips. 'Tsk! Here we go again.'

Zion whispered in my ear, "I think we've been spotted." Napatango lang tuloy ako bilang sagot. Saka dahan-dahan itong lumayo. And I felt my heart sunk. [Sigh]

"Let's go," he said and took my hand.

Then he stared at me and gave me a heads up. As I wasn't sure what's that for, I quickly nod at him. But when he started moving and his steps turned into a run, I bounce to my feet and followed his lead. Suddenly, I felt like a carefree person.

I'm always cautious in everything I do, because I'm a celebrity after all. Every little thing I do, or say, media will turn it into something big and talk of the town. Kaya naman ingat na ingat ako pag nasa public area ako.

I giggled as the cold wind caress my face and blew my hair. I've never felt this free. He glanced at me smiling too, maybe he got infected by my light mood.
