Chapter 7: Meet Up

"Adan, any news regarding your investigation?" It was really bizarre that Dara Ruiz is declining our offer. It's either we cannot afford her or there's really something going on in the Media Division. Absolutely, the company wouldn't be that petty when it comes to allocation of funds for each project. So most probably, it would be the latter.

"Yes Boss. I have put our men to look into the matter. And we found some interesting occurences," pahayag nito and placed the folder on my table.

Agad ko naman itong binuksan saka binasa ang laman nito. Halos mangunot naman ang noo ko habang binabasa ang nakasaad sa mga dokumentong iniabot sa 'kin ni Adan.

"You mean-" tingin ko sa kanya habang natango naman siya. And then closed the folder right away. "Did you alert anyone in the Media Division?"

"No, Sir. We just hacked the system and left no trace of it."

"Good. Continue your investigation. I didn't know that there were so many anomalies happening in that Division. Update me every now and then. I want to know everything that's happening in there. But be vigilant, ayokong matunugan nila tayo."

"Yes, Sir," mabilis naman na sagot nito. Hindi ko lubos maisip na makakalaban ko ang isa sa matalik na kaibigan ni Papa kapag nagkataon.

"Nga pala Boss, are you still going to pursue Ms. Dara?"

"What?!"

"'Yong contract po," kakamot-kamot sa ulong sagot naman nito.

"Oh!" Sabay napatikhim ako. What am I thinking?! Tsk! "Yeah, where's the draft?"

"Nilagay ko na po sa table niyo kaninang umaga. 'Yang blue folder po." Turo naman nito sa blue na folder na nasa table ko.

I opened and read the draft. I scanned the whole document and the clauses were properly stated. No malice or hidden agenda that was being offered. And the draft itself is actually for the benefit of the other party.

"Then tell me Adan, if this contract is as good as it sounds, why we were being rejected by Dara?" Wala akong mabasang kakaiba lalo na sa fee na nakasaad.

"I'm also wondering Boss. Unless-"

"Unless, we are not trying to get Dara, herself, but we are just using her as a scapegoat."

"Mukhang gano'n na nga po."

"Adan, check the finance department. Get all the relevant documents pertaining to the expenses of the Media Division. Don't notify them. Be heedful." I will be needing lot of documents to support our claim, otherwise, this will be used against me.

Mabilis naman itong tumugon, "Yes Boss."

"And also, arrange a meeting with Dara Ruiz or her manager, whoever we can talk to about this issue. Make it as secretive as possible."

"Yes Boss. Right away!" And he seems so excited about it. Na halos mapatakbo pa siya palabas ng opisina ko. Tsk! Kulang na lang mapa-yes pa.

"Where are we going?" nagtatakang tanong ko dahil parang pamilyar ako sa tinatahak namin. Nagawa nitong makapag-booked ng appointment sa manager ni Dara and we decided to meet today.

"Nasa shooting daw po sila, Boss."

"Shooting?" Agaran naman itong umoo. "Where?"

"Sa Sunset Vale po." No wonder, I'm familiar with the place. That's where my parents house is.

"Gusto niyo po bang dumaan muna kila Madam?" tanong pa nito.
