mila's pov

today, mary is having a party at hers for her birthday. i'm kinda excited it's been a while since we all got together and had fun.

my phone starts ringing. it's mary.

"hey" i say

"morning, can u come over in a bit?" she asks

"yeah i'll come right after i shower"

"okay see you then" she says

"ok bye love you"

"love you"

i hang up n jump into the shower. after i shower i throw on a simple outfit.

i run down the stairs n grab a piece of toast.

"bye mum, i'm going over to mary's for a bit"

"bye love" she said as i close the door

i put in my airpods and play my favourite playlist as i walk to mary's. i get to her front door and knock.

"happy birthday!!!!" i say as she opens the door.

"hi thank you!!! come in!!!" she exclaims dragging me in her house

we run up to her room and chill out for a bit.

"i need you to help me pick out an outfit, i want to look so hot" she says running to her closet

"of course, anyone you want to impress?" i ask

"not anyone is particular" she smirks

"hmm, okay" i laugh "what about this? it's very birthday girl"

i hold up a sparkly top and pants.

"ahh! perfect thank you!" she says placing the outfit on her chair

a couple hours later i go home and finish some work that is due monday.

(before party)

i put on a black dress and do my makeup.

i text ruel to make sure he's on the way to my house.

mila - hi, r u almost here?

no response.

mila - ruel? where r u?

no response.

i decide to text mary and ask if she knows where he is.

mila - hey mary, do u know where ruel is? he won't answer my texts

mary - nope haven't heard from him, just wait for him

mila - oh ok

that was weird, she's never like that normally. i wait another half an hour and he still hasn't responded. i decide to go to mary's without ruel, i don't know why he hasn't answered me. maybe he lost his phone or something. i call simon to see if he has left his house yet and he hasn't so he picks me up and we go to mary's. as we enter her house everyone is already pretty fucked up jumping from bottle to bottle.

"do you think ruel is here?" i ask simon

"probably, try find him" he says

"okay, i'm gonna get a drink first" i say heading to the kitchen

in the kitchen i see sunday and anneliese sitting on the counters.

"MILA!" they scream as they see me approach them

"hiii" we talk for a bit as i try to catch up with the drinks

"okay i'm gonna try find ruel, is he here?" i ask

"yeah i think i saw him before, he might be with mary" sunday says

"oh ok i'm gonna go" i say getting off the counter and walking around the house.

it shouldn't be too hard to find them, i mean they're both pretty tall. soon enough i see them. their hands all over each other's bodies. their lips pressed up against each other. he kissed her like he's never kissed me. i stood still staring at them. i'm in shock, i cannot physically move. i feel a hand on my shoulder and i quickly turn to see who it is. it's sunday, her eyes full of empathy. i turn my head again and they're still hooking up. i decide enough is enough and walk over to them. i rip her off his body and watch ruel's face turn red.

"mila, i can explain" he says turning even more red

"of course you can explain" i say with tears running down my cheeks

"just listen to me, can we talk outside" he begs

"one minute" i turn to mary "did you get what you want? i seriously thought you were a genuine friend. i guess i was wrong, but seriously fuck you i don't care if it is your birthday you're a fucking shitty person"

"okay honestly i don't get what you're mad about, he was the one that came on to me" she says smugly

"it doesn't fucking matter, you're supposed to be my fucking friend"

at this point everyone is pretty much watching and the musics volume had lowered.

"don't ever fucking talk to me again" i say to her and storm out of the house

"mila!" ruel says following after me

i stay quiet till we are outside.

"mila, please" he begs

"please be honest with me, what made you do that? am i not enough for you? am i too boring? what the fuck is wrong with me that made you cheat on me? am i the problem here?" i ask not being able to properly breathe

"please, it was a stupid mistake. i love you so much. i was so fucking stupid" he says sitting down with his hands in his hair

i stay quiet and just sit next to him. we both cry but don't exchange any words.

"i'm so sorry, i love you. i don't understand why i did that. she forced herself on me"

"i saw it ruel. i saw how you kissed her, you've never kissed me like that" i say looking up at him

he then grabs my face and starts kissing me and i pull away and stand up a bit off balance.

"no ruel! you don't get it! you can't just fix this by kissing me! it doesn't work that way!"

"i'm sorry, i don't know what else to say. i wish i could go back in time and not kiss mary" he says looking up at me with tears in his eyes

"don't say her fucking name" i say "you know what i'm just gonna go home, i've had enough of this"

"let me walk you home ... please" he says

"fine"

we walk in silence and a cold gust of wind hit us and i started to shiver.

"here" he says putting his jacket on me

"thanks" i say "this doesn't fix anything you know that right"

"yes" he said sadly

"you know ruel, i really fucking love you. you really hurt me"

"i really love you too, i wish there was something i can do to prove that to you" he says grabbing my hands but i pull my hands away

"just give me time please" i say as we reach my house "here" i say handing his jacket back to him "thanks"

"goodnight, i'm so sorry. i love you" he says standing at a distance

"goodnight ruel" i say shutting my door

i run to my room and lock the door. i lay on my bed crying for hours until i fell asleep.
