Lying on the bed, with his eyes that I know so well that are a chocolaty dark brown are closed. A mask is over his gentle lips and his usually fluffy hair is thrown above his head in wet strands.
I imagined it floating, swishing in the water as waves knocked it around in the slowest way possible, his eyes having already closed not far off from that moment.
Oh, how I hoped it went fast.
His strong jawline was framing his face appealingly. With water pouring down his pale and rather disturbed face in dripping beads of crystal, he still managed to be the most stunning person I'd ever seen.
I didn't have any words to say to anyone. Not his brothers, or him, or even myself. My eyes just wandered over his cold, still, quiet body lying on something I wished I'd never see under him.
I wanted to see his eyes open again and his smile appear and stretch his lips that I wanted to kiss again. I wanted his hair to get flipped and tossed out of his eyes again, and his eyebrows to raise in surprise when I told him something interesting. I wanted his chilled hand to grab mine when it was often colder, and I wanted his scratched arms to hold me again. I wanted his heart to beat against my ears as I hugged him.
Nurses continue to run around the room, they're going to do something.
They tell us we have to get out. There's still a small chance.
So his brother's hand leaves mine. He wants what's best for him and I do too, but I need a second longer. A second.
A second.
