A small smile appears on his face too. The first I've seen in a while. "He liked you too."

"G-Good," I stutter. I knew that. I thought I knew that, even if I wasn't completely sure about it. "I mean, I wasn't always sure if I was doing the right thi-"

"You were fine- you were good. You were good for him." He nods as if to reassure himself and both of our eyes wander away from each other. I fiddle with the rings on my thumb.

"Thanks."

"You've been here for, well, since it happened."

"Yeah?"

"That's nice of you."

I scoff, "Have you not noticed me practically stalking you even before it happened?"

He laughs and shakes his head. "I noticed you were always there, always up to date with us and stuff, yeah. But I didn't think too far on it. You're his friend, not mine."

I take a moment to respond. "You're right. I'm not sure why I thought you'd ever care, or why you do. I-if you do."

"I do. I care about my brother so I care about you."

"I always thought you were too cool for me."

"Hm?" He chuckles in a soft, deep voice. Exactly how he used to. My heart spikes at the thought.

"I don't know," I sigh, "I'm weird. Please forgive me."

I notice him tense and he doesn't respond. I look up and he's thinking thoughtfully.

"No. Please forgive me," he says, before pointing to a new scar on his forehead. "I did this to him. I did this to you."

For a second I don't know what to say. He's referring to the accident. Agree or disagree? Truth or lie?
