Chapter 21 - Questioning

"Uh, kid....Are you okay?"

Goliath looked at you with furrowed brows, concern written all over his face. It was training day yet again with him and let's just say you were a little too into it. You were working on building up your strength and you were currently punching the crap out of the training mats Goliath wore on his hands, knees, and other areas. The strength hero backed up with each heavy punch you threw. He was impressed at how hard you were hitting but also wondering where this sudden burst of energy came from. 

"Yeah. I'm fine."

Your fist made contact with the padding over his stomach, a loud smack sound echoing throughout the room. The impact of course didn't hurt him at all. Goliath made a time out gesture with his hands. You sighed frustrated, not quite done letting your anger out. You angrily took off the boxing gloves you wore and chucked them to the corner of the room. This made Goliath raise an eyebrow at you questionably. 

"Seriously, kid. What's the matter?" he asked. 

You ran your hand through your (h/c) colored hair, sighing as you did. "Imma just say it...Shoto struck a deal with his dad where if he got close to me, then said dad would let him see his mom."

".....What?" He waited for a moment, expecting you to tell him it was all a joke. His face turned red with anger when it wasn't. "He did that? (Name), what the hell!"

"I know," you groaned. You threw your hands in the air exasperated. "I met his siblings and they tried explaining to me how Shoto only did it because his dad told him that if he did, then he'd tell him where his mother was."

"What? Where's his mom?" 

"She's in some mental hospital right now still recovering from the abuse Endeavor put her through," you sighed. "They just don't know which one." 

"No wonder you're pissed. I oughta go up to that bastard Endeavor and beat his ass. How could he put all his children through all this?" You stayed quiet, not sure what to say. "And I can't believe Todoroki would do such a thing....(Name)....are you okay?"

"....No," you admitted flatly. "I hate the fact that he lied to me. Like okay, I get it, you did it because you wanted to see your mom but he couldn't have explained this to me sooner?"

You plopped down onto the mat with a heavy sigh. Goliath stood over you, a worried look on his face. You wanted to understand the situation Shoto was in and in truth, you did sympathize with him. You just hated how he had used you and neglected to tell you until recently. It didn't sit right with you at all. 

"Damn. I can't believe you just found out about all of this. You still talking to Todoroki?"

"Sorta. It's just awkward right now. I didn't think my first boyfriend would ever do such a thing." 

Goliath's eyes widened. "Wait....you're dating him?"

You froze in your spot, not realizing that you hadn't broken the news to him yet. You were trying so hard to keep it on the down low so that the media wouldn't end up finding out. Yet you ended up telling on yourself anyways. Just great. You quickly sat up on the mat, your mind scrambling to think of a way to change the subject.

"Um, well, you see...."

"(Name), answer me," he said sternly.

He wasn't the type to let you off the hook easily. You continued to nervously laugh in your spot as Goliath stared you down. You had wanted him to tell him about it eventually. Just not now. What made it worse was that now he had a bad impression of Todoroki. Just when you were ready to come clean, the intercom could be heard switching on.
