Argus drove us out of the country side and into western Long Island. Ten miles into the trip and Annabeth and Percy already start arguing. I rolled my eyes as I watched the billboards and buildings pass, trying to block them out. I wish I could wish to be home right now, but unbeknownst to most everyone, I've been on the run, from the orphanage, for years. I found a bit of scrap metal on the top of a roof, so that's been my home for 6 years, ever since I was 6 years old. I ran all the way from New Hampshire, down to New York. Yeah, the winters are extremely brutal, but that comes with the many pains of running away. I thought as the van stopped and it started to rain.
We stepped out and waited for the bus with our tickets in hand. Soon, we got bored and played hacky sack with an apple... that was until Grover ate it. Percy and I busted up laughing as Annabeth's just rolled her eyes at us before the bus came and we got on... sadly, so did 2 other haggard women.
Triplet demon math teachers.
I sighed as Annabeth pushed her hat into Percy's hands and I placed my two fingers over my tattoo, ready to swipe.
"No. Crawl under the seats... your smell is foreign to them, you'll be able to get away." Annabeth stopped me as I cringed at the floors before begrudgingly lowering myself down and almost throwing up at the filled condom that was rolling around. I gagged as I carefully crawled over it. I continued to crawl until I bumped into the invisible leg of Percy, and gasps and screams sounded across the bus.
Something, cough, Percy, cough, grabbed the wheel and jerked it to the left sending monsters and mortals flying to the right. I can just imagine Stan Lee sitting down with an audio book and a seatbelt over his lap as all of this is going on, kinda like in the Amazing Spiderman.
I shook my head as he pulled the emergency brake as the bus spun, full circle, on the wet asphalt, crashing into trees.... then came the battle. I swiped my fingers over my tattoo and my sword materialized just to impale one of the furies, and she exploded.
"Stygian Diamond?!" Annabeth exclaimed as I shrugged.
"Duck." I said nonchalantly as she dropped to her knees and I swung, slicing at the evil math teacher who just barely missed the tip of my sword and Grover tangled her legs in her own whip.
"Get out!" Annabeth yelled. "Now!" I decided not to argue with her.
"Our bags!" Grover realized just before the bus exploded. Thankfully, I kept my bag with me.
"Run!" Annabeth pushed us towards the woods. "She's calling for reinforcements! We have to get out of here!"
We plunged into the woods as the rain poured down, the bus in flames behind us, and nothing but darkness ahead.
