"Ethan, please."

"No Hannah. Just stop irritating me."

"I'll do everything that you say, just tell me."

"Anything..."

"Yes."

"Fine, I want to mess up your hair."

"No! Everything doesn't include that."

"Everything includes everything."

"But..."

"Do you want to know or not?"

"Okay fine! Just make it fast." Hannah sighed, as she touched the soft and smooth curled ends of her hair. If only Ethan knew about the effort it took her to maintain her hair. If only he were a girl.

She cursed him in her mind, as his hands found their way towards her hair. Within a second, her beautifully curled hair turned into a disaster. They resembled a bird's nest. Poor Hannah!

Ethan loved messing with Hannah. He had always known about her love for her hair. Stupid materialistic girl, he thought. He was sure, that she loved her hair even more than she loved Alan.

"Now tell me!" she screamed.

"Okay, ma'am. It happened when we were in middle school."

"What? You like her since middle school! Why didn't you tell her?"

"I thought she didn't like me. Even while sitting in a group, you were the only person she spoke to."

"You idiot! That's because she's introverted and shy. You're unbelievable. Anyways, What did you like about her?"

"Why are we doing this interview? I don't remember being famous."

"Ugh... Because you're dating my best friend. I need to ensure that your feelings for her are genuine, so answer me."

"I liked everything about her. The way she smiled shyly. Her eyes, just everything."

"I think you've passed the test and I give you my blessing officially. But remember, considering your past behaviour, I think you don't deserve her."

"I know. But it's not always about what we deserve, it's about what we get and what we do to become capable of deserving it."

"OMG! I think you've already started talking like her."

"I also think that you don't deserve Alan. But you still have him, right?"

"You jerk!"

*************

Sarah and Hannah sat in the cabin, talking about random things and munching on potato chips. They had asked the boys to cook the meal. Rohan, who used to cook all of their meals and was a good chef was gone. Hannah was incapable of even boiling water, so no one ever asked her to work in the kitchen. Sarah couldn't cook all the meals, so the boys took up the task of preparing the dinner. They were just supposed to make sandwiches and it should've been simple but they were failing miserably at it.

Alan was good at chopping vegetables but that was the only thing he knew. Ethan, on the other hand, had butter all over his hands but he wasn't able to put one drop of it on the bread. When the boys had planned on cooking the dinner, the girls had prepared themselves for sleeping with an empty stomach.

When the girls went on to check up on them, they witnessed a comical sight. Both of them sat on the chairs with a defeated look upon their faces. Practically, the only edible thing that they managed to make was salad. The girls barely managed to contain their laughter.

As Sarah sat down and tasted the salad, she frowned.

"Aghh... You added sugar to it."

Their last hope was destroyed. The canned vegetables that they had brought with them were finished and they could get more of them only in the morning and that too if they drove hundreds of miles to the grocery store. But Hannah had brought abundant potato chips to last them for a lifetime.

"I knew something like this would happen," said Hannah while munching on her potato chips. "I brought chips so that we wouldn't at least die of hunger."

"You are so smart, Hannah. Thanks for being a lifesaver."

"Thanks, Ethan, but you'll spoil me by praising too much." He had said that sarcastically but Hannah took him seriously. Oh lord!

When Alan woke up the next morning, he went outside to get a glass of water. Little did he know that he was about to get the biggest shock of his life.

He thought it was an animal, at first. But as he went closer, he knew that it wasn't an animal carcass but a human corpse. He screamed at the top of his lungs and went back running to the camp as fast as his feet could take him. The world seemed foggy to him and uncertainty had clouded his mind. He wasn't sure of what his eyes had seen and the moment he reached back to Hannah, his mind went blank and the next thing he knew, he was on the ground. Hannah sat beside him asking for him to wake up but her voice seemed far away and her words were unclear. He closed his eyes and lost consciousness.
