When Hannah opened her eyes, she found herself sitting on the ground with her hands and feet tied together with a rope and her back was against a wall. Her eyes scanned the place and it was dark inside with only a flickering light bulb to lighten up the room. At least she thought that it was a room. Her head ached and the ropes had already scratched her skin a good deal.
"So you're awake. Good." A computerised voice reached her ears.
"Who are you?"
"Good question, Hannah. But I wished you had tried to find out earlier. No worries. I'm Charlie."
"I am sorry but what exactly do you mean by saying that? I don't even know you."
A burst of loud laughter boomed throughout the room. It was indeed the scariest and the most wicked thing that she had ever heard in her life.
"Oh, Hannah! You know me very well but I know you better."
"Okay, if you know me then why the hell have you tied me or rather kidnapped me? Wait a minute! Where are my friends?"
"Finally, you came to the point. Your friends are dead and you'll be the same in the next few hours."
"What? Look, if this is some silly prank you're pulling up, then let me get this straight to you, this isn't funny."
"Pranks, that's not supposed to be my thing. But I know for sure that it's your thing, right Hannah?"
"I'm not getting you."
"Hannah, the famous Youtuber. Famous for her pranks. Do you realise who am I and what am I famous for?"
"No. I don't know you."
"I am Charlie and I am famous for killing. Maybe you're right, you don't know me. Let me tell you a story."
"Oh come on. Just tell me where are the cameras? I know this is a prank."
"Listen to my story, Hannah. I promise this will let you know if this is a prank or not."
"Okay, fine. Spill."
Once, there was a boy named Charlie and he was always surrounded by tragedies. The first tragedy of his life came with his birth, it was his mother's death. He never knew her but he always craved for a mother's love. His father was a stuck up man who always blamed him for his wife's death. He never really cared for him. One day, he just left him at the doorstep of his parents' house. But with his grandparents, he found the love of a mother and the support of a grandfather. For the first time, he realised that life wasn't bad at all. But it didn't take destiny much time to change that. The second tragedy was his grandmother's death. He had managed to lose two mothers in one life. He started being alone all the time and even his grandpa couldn't console him. The innocent child inside him was dead, just like his two mothers. The third tragedy came soon afterwards. It was his grandfather's death. That day he realised that maybe his father had always been right, he indeed was a bad omen. The people that came in contact with him died and he started hating himself and death.
He had to live with an aunt who hated him just as his father did. Just because of some stupid property he had to his name. Life was back to the way it was when he had lived with his father. But this time, it became worse. He had no one to love and everyone was against him. But when his aunt tried to poison him, he survived. That day he learnt the most important lesson of his life. He learnt that he only needed himself to love and that was when he realised that maybe he could be friends with death. Death and he became best friends. You know why?
Because wherever he went, he brought death along with him.
"So, tell me, Hannah. Do you still think that you don't know who I am?"
"I.. I don't know but your story seems familiar."
"Oh! I wish you had a better IQ Hannah. Then maybe, you would've been able to put two and two together."
"Stop playing games with me. It's not fair that you get to see me and I don't get to see you."
"Oh, dear! Do you think you'd be able to handle that?"
"Duh."
Suddenly, all the lights were switched on. The room became clearer and she saw big screens everywhere. It was a cave but someone had turned it into a perfect hideout. The screens displayed pictures of her and her friends. But one screen displayed some codes on it.
"Do you like this Hannah?"
"No, I don't. Have you been stalking me and my friends? Show me your face, you moron."
"Fine."
That was when all the screens turned blank and the whole room was engulfed in darkness. Hannah heard the sound of a door opening and closing. Her eyes tried to see something in the dark but all she saw was a dark outline. But when the lights came back, she saw a person standing in front of her and it was indeed a person she knew very well.
Well, I guess, Charlie doesn't lie. Do you?
*************
Any guesses about the identity of Charlie? I'm sure it's pretty much obvious now.
Well, don't forget to vote and comment.
