Hey guys... I know its been long, and I'm sorry about it. Anyway, I hope your week has been good. And thanks again for taking your time to read this. it means a lot. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this

Camilla's life had been peaceful. Lonely; but peaceful. She couldn't wait for this break to be over. Her tattoos, however were taking so long to heal. And it was so painful to nurse herself. Her dad kept checking on her though. He tried to convince her to go back home, but she wouldn't agree. He obviously thought it was only because of her mother, but he was wrong.

There was so much more. She was afraid, even though she wouldn't admit it. The danger that lingered around that place, she thought her father couldn't understand. Every time she went home, something always happened. And every incident killed a little piece of her each time. She felt like she was loosing her mind... And herself along with it.

Josh came to visit one time and she was so excited to see him. It was so good to feel another person's presence for once. She could not even explain it. She gave him a long, tight hug. Even he was surprised.

"Well you've never been that excited to see me," Josh said, his words coming out muffled.

"You have no Idea." She smiled, her eyes closed.

"It's too silent here, is Kiki asleep?" he wondered, looking around. Camilla cleared her throat in discomfort. Josh looked at her, and she looked away. "What's up?" Still, no reply. "You're scaring me now, is he sick?" His voice was had worry all over it. And a bit of desperation.

"He's... uhm..." she really didn't know how to say it. "Dead." she whispered, her head facing the ground. Josh's lower jaw dropped. Silence.

"You got me," Josh laughed.  "Okay now, where is he really?" He started whistling, calling his name out. "Come on buddy, you can come out now." he clapped. No response. "Wow, I have never seen him so silent and still. The little thing is always running around barking. For how long have you been practicing for this prank?" He looked up to see Camilla's hand on her mouth. Panic began crawling in.

"Camilla," he paused. "Where's Kiki?" Her eyes watered. "This isn't funny anymore."

"He's gone," her voice was shaky.

"Well give me an address, I'll go pick him up right now!" He was way too deep in denial, but the truth was sinking in."

"You know what I mean."

"How?" He demanded an explanation.

"We got attacked, and... and he didn't make it." She couldn't think of the words to explain this.

"What do you mean? When?" His voice was high. He looked like he was loosing his mind.

"The day I got him from you." Her tears were now flowing down. She knew she was just about to loose the only close person she had at the moment. The time she needed him the most. And it scared her.

"Two weeks?" He thundered. "Kiki's been dead for two weeks and you didn't think to, I don't know, tell me about it?" He was just mad. Mostly hurt, but mad too.

"I didn't know how," she defended herself, but that reason was not good enough.

"What do you mean you didn't know how? I knew I shouldn't have let him come with you. How did I trust him with you? You've never taken care of anything in your life!" Camilla had never seen Josh so mad. He was so attached to Kiki, it was understandable. "How did it happen?" Silence. "Well?" He got impatient as Camilla was taking long to respond.

"I don't know what to tell you," she said in a humble voice.

"I am... was his owner, I at least deserve to know," He had a point.

'Technically, I got him for you so that makes me his rightful owner." She honestly didn't want to involve him, so she had to say something that would ensure he stopped asking questions. "For that reason, I owe you no explanation." She tried her best to appear bold.

Josh could not believe what she was hearing. But what did he expect? Deep down, he knew Camilla was that kind of person. "You're selfish and irresponsible. I bet that's what got Kiki killed." With that, he took his leave. His words hit Camilla deeply. She believed he was right.

At that point, she was beyond the level of feeling sorry for herself so she got her laptop from her room and just as she was about to relax on the couch and Netflix her way to the next day, there was a knock on the door. She sighed of and went over to open it.

"Camilla? Camilla Kerm?" The landlord was surprised to see her: or better yet, her new look.

"Hello Jimmy." She said in a bored tone.

"I could barely recognize you, what have you done to yourself?" Camilla couldn't really tell if he really was shocked or just messing with her.

"I'm surprised you even remember me." She replied with sarcasm, mocking his memory because of old age. He narrowed his eyes at her for a moment.

"Well played, Kerm... well. played." She gave a genuine smile; the first one in a while. "Came here to ruin your day but it looks like somebody beat me to it." His voice was deep, a bit hoarse and rather intimidating. Scary even. And he hardly ever smiled, let alone laugh. he was an average height, plump man, all his hair grey and he loved wearing khaki pants with sweater vests and long sleeved checked shirts. His wrinkles had also recently started appearing, and he could not emphasize enough just how much he hated them.

"Aaw, didn't know you had a heart." She poked his belly. He was not amused.

"No it just doesn't count when I ruin an already ruined day." Camilla was holding back laughter. She didn't even know why. "I'll come back when you're having a good day." He turned to leave.

"Well that's harsh," she commented.

"That's the point, try to keep up." He said leaving.

"Well you'll be waiting for a long time." She thought out loud.

"You're only nineteen. How sad could your life possibly be?" He stopped and looked back at her.

"You'd be surprised," she responded, but not loud enough that he would hear. He resumed walking. Camilla had a feeling they would get along just fine.
