CHAPTER 26

X was enraged. He knew her capture one way or another involved him. If he ignored this, his brothers would be proven wrong and Camilla would mean nothing to them. Hopefully, they would leave her alone, but it was no assurance. And if he went after her, they would all target her, putting her in even more danger. This was already the third brother attacking her. He was in a dilemma.

He looked at his crew. They were in no condition to fight. He thought of going alone, but he knew he wouldn't manage. He didn't even know where Camilla was being held in the first place. The night went by, thoughts rushing through his mind. What could she be going through right now? Liam used to be the softest brother of all since he was the youngest. And most times, he was the one to be defended. In fact, his mother's last wish was for X, as the eldest son, to take care of him. But power can change people. Toughen them up. And the fact that he was running an entire crew all by himself proved it.

Morning came, and X couldn't take it anymore. He video called his brother. But this time, he made sure to put his bandana on in case Camilla was awake.

"Had a change of heart?" Liam received the phonecall.

"Give her the phone." X demanded.

"What's the rush?" He just loved messing around.

"I need to know that she's okay." He admitted without thinking.

"Careful brother, I might start to think you actually care about her." X clenched his fist. "But come on, we both know the only reason you want her all to yourself is because she's a Kerm." X's eyes widened. Liam was surprised. "You didn't even know, did you?" He laughed. X was still in shock. "You mean to tell me, that you've known this girl for... how long? And I bet you two even got close. But you didn't know she is Doctor Kerm's daughter?" Liam was amazed. "So you really do care about her." Even better. "It's not about power to you. It never was. Kerm or not, she matters to you." He said in realization.

This kid proved to be smarter than his age. "Will you let me talk to her or not?"

"I won't be the Tybalt in this Romeo and Juliet story." He got up from where he was seated and began walking. Little did X know, this was part of his plan. As he went, X focused on the background to find clues. If Liam took her there, it was probably some place he had ever been to. X and Liam were closest, and discovered hideaways together.

He gathered clue by clue, but they were not specific enough. They had been to numerous old abandoned buildings. Some complete, some incomplete. He needed more. He counted the number of floors, hoping Liam was originally at the ground. That narrowed it down. But what gave it out is the steel door. There was only one building that had that kind of door. And the markings... They had faded but he could still make them out. The Old Pox Hospital.

"X," Camilla said weakly. X? Liam thought.

"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.

"If tied up in a chair in an old house counts as okay, then yes. I'm perfectly fine." At least there was more life to her. X laughed a little. She smiled. Even with her life in danger, her sarcasm wouldn't budge.

"I'm gonna get you out of there, okay?" She nodded, a shimmer of hope in her faint eyes .

"Well, I sure hope you'll be able to keep that promise... For her sake." Liam just had to cut the moment short.

"Here's another one. You'll pay." With that, he hang up. X ordered his men to gear up. They had to be in perfect shape. Some had hangovers but battle is battle. They had to go anyway. They took with them weapons, but X deeply hoped they wouldn't have to use them. However, one thing he was sure to use was Venom; that was slang for a drug which when injected, causes temporary paralysis. Your brain is still active, but you can't move or speak for until it wears off. X just couldn't believe it came to that. He put the syringe in his pocket, got onto his bike then led his crew to battle.

Meanwhile, Liam was calling the police. In order to be the most powerful gang, he knew he had to somehow get rid of all the rest, even if it meant breaking one of their sacred codes: 'No cops involved.' And what better way to start than to eliminate the current most powerful gang? Power really was getting to his head.

He used Camilla as bait, intentionally gave out his hiding place. And by the time X was there, he and his crew will be long gone. The cops would have arrived by the time X was trying to find Camilla. What could possibly go wrong?

"911, what's your emergency?"

"Hi, I was out for a jog and I just saw the Red's gang forcing a girl into the Old Pox Building. I'm assuming it's a case of kidnap, because if I saw the girl correctly, she is Camilla Kerm." Three things they just couldn't resist. Red's gang, Kidnapping and The Kerm Name. They would be on that case in a heartbeat.

Once he was done with his phone call, he untied Camilla, unwillingly dragged her to the roof of the building where there was a little room. He had covered it's whole interior with plastic glass. Her hands were still tied together, and so were her feet but she still put up quite a fight. She hit Liam in the abdomen with her elbow, and she would have made a run for it were it not for the restraints. She wouldn't stop screaming so he gagged her and threw her into the room.

"Enjoy the show." He smirked. "Sure hope your air supply lasts long enough to keep you till the finale." He locked the door behind her and ran down stairs.

Camilla desperately wanted to be saved. But the only one who could would loose everything if he did. She didn't want that for him, even though he probably deserved it. Who knew what he had done? All in all, she had no way of warning him that he was walking into a trap. The best she could do was hope.
