Me watching everyone's hearts breaking in the previous chapter. 👁👄👁

Let's break up.

The words etched in Harry's head. Gingerly, he bent and picked up the phone, wincing when he spots a new crack of the screen. He turned on and the message seems to mock him.

Let's break up.

He thought they were doing fine.

Let's break up.

He feels like someone has just punched his throat, he's unable to breathe.

Let's break up.

He turned and walked into the house, his tears rolling down his cheeks slowly.

Harry immediately dialled Jade's number, settling himself at the dining chair. He wishes she would pick up, he needs her to tell him it's just a joke. That everything's fine and she just needed someone to prank. He won't get angry if she tells him it's just a joke. As long as she's not breaking up with him, it's fine.

Sorry, the number you have dialled is unavailable. Record a message after the tone.

Ain't nobody got time for voicemail.

"God, Jade, please pick up," he pleaded, calling her for the third time.

Distraught, Harry clicked on Leigh-Anne's number, knowing she's probably the one who will give him some answers. He needs answers, he needs closure.

"Hello?" He heard Leigh-Anne's soft voice.

"Leigh," he called out. The girl must have picked up the phone without checking who was calling her as Harry could hear her panicking when she realised he called her. "Please don't hang up," he begged.

He did not hear anything from the other line but heard a sigh after a few moments.

"What do you want, Harry?" Leigh-Anne's tired voice asked.

"Please, I just need to speak to Jade." He heard movements from the other side of the phone and he inferred that Leigh-Anne was probably walking away.

"Harry look. She's going through some... stuff. Give her space. But whatever you see on the media, please don't believe it."

"I will Leigh. But I need to understand, why is she breaking up with me?" A sob escaped his throat.

"She broke up with you?" Leigh-Anne asked and let out an exasperated sigh. "You know what? I love Jade but this isn't the way you guys should settle this. If you want to talk to Jade, come to her apartment. I'll convince the rests to allow you to talk to her."

"Thanks," Harry muttered and went to get his car keys, only to be stopped by Liam.

"Where are you going?" The older man asked. Harry turned and was greeted by Liam with Bear perched on his hip. He noted Harry's slightly swollen eyes. "Is everything fine? Why are you crying?"

"Un'ce Hawwi sad?" Bear asked innocently.

"No baby, I'm not sad," Harry turned to Liam. "I need to settle some issues, I'll explain everything later. Please help me to tell others." Without waiting for a reply, Harry sprinted out of his house and hopped into his car, driving to the apartment he has frequently visited.

I just miss your accent and your friends. Did you know I still talk to them?

---

Harry pressed the doorbell and knocked on the door, not wanting to waste any time. He heard the volume of the music in the apartment being lowered down, and whispers for the others to be quiet. The door opened and his breath hitched, seeing the face he has grown to miss.
