I took a couple of deep breaths to help my heart go back to its usual rhythm. I knew who was behind me and I also knew that if I didn't get my breathing back in order I was going to faint...and that would be embarrassing.
I turned around to face him and his perfection hit me like the bright sun that was shining outside today.
"Andrew..." I let his name play along my lips.
I saw the corner of his lips pull up into my favourite dazzling smile. I could already feel myself being pulled to him by his perfection.
I shook my head to shake away his 'perfection' aura that was wrapping around me.
"So how was you holidays?" I asked looking up into his light blue eyes that brightened at the subject of holidays.
"They were really good, my brother came over from Sydney..." Andrew said, excitement spilt across his face.
"Oh," I said, amazed. Andrew's brother is currently studying in Sydney and rarely calls home, so it's a shock to hear that he was actually here in Melbourne.
"Yeah, apparently he has a girlfriend and they moved in together..." He trailed on.
Andrew and I met in grade four and he has changed so much but he was just as dazzling in grade four as he is now. I remember how we first met. I had been in his class all year but I didn't really acknowledge him until we were paired up for a project. We were meant to make our own fish tank, at the time we were learning about the ocean, and whoever came up with the most creative idea for their fish tank they would get a prize.
Of course we won. But Andrew didn't think it was fair so he asked the teacher if he could share his winnings, he's such a generous person, and that's how Andrew became popular. But Andrew and I have always kept close contact. Chatting during class and what not.
So I guess he's popularity hasn't changed so much, it's mainly his physical side that has changed. His hairstyle has changed from swept away hair to gelled, spiky short hair. His color though, has been white and it's still white. Thank god. I like his hair, it makes him stand out, you know....different from the rest. And his eyes, oh his eyes....they still sparkle a light blue color. His figure, well...he is skinny but you can tell he is tank.
I felt someone shaking me. I snapped back to reality and realised that our class was going inside. I turned on my heel and followed the crowd into the classroom.
"So, how were your holidays?" Andrew asked me.
"They were pretty good," I said, hoping he couldn't spot my hesitation.
"I'm glad...did you do any homework?" Andrew asked, he already knew the answer.
I screwed up my face and stuck out my tongue in disgust. "Of course not."
I heard Andrew chuckling behind me. Then I took my usually seat, which was two tables away from the teacher, and found Charice sitting next to me. Neal and Trip sat in front of me and HE sat across the other side of the classroom, where his friends were.
I sighed, this is how it always is and I always feel my heart ache a little from the pain that he intentionally causes me. I know that he has never thought of me like that and I practically gave up on the thought but my heart still hopes.
I opened my Science textbook and workbook. As the teacher started writing notes, a light tap on the door echoed around the silent room. The door opened and Ellie appeared along with Ms. Fall, who is our coordinator.
