I used my pen to trace along the circles that I had already made in my exercise book. I was leaning my head on my hand, while I was concentrating on my circles.
I felt a light nudge and immediately woke up from my daze. I looked to see it was Jeremy who nudged me.
"Fay, the teacher," whispered Jeremy.
I looked up to my math teacher. He had his arms crossed over his chest waiting for me to reply.
"Do you mind answering Ms. Evans?" Mr. Corwin asked, he clearly caught me not paying attention.
"Um...what's the question?" I asked, smilingly innocently. I watched as his hand hit against his forehead and a loud smack echoed across the room.
"It's on the board," he pointed to the white board.
I looked around to see an equation written on the board. As soon as I saw it, I immediately knew that I had no idea what the answer was let alone how figure out. God, I'm so stupid.
"I have no idea sir," I replied in a small voice.
"Of course you don't. If you paid attention maybe you would know, huh?" The teacher went away to explain how figure it out. I knew that was my cue to stop paying attention and continue drawing my circles.
Mr. Corwin was explaining, for what seemed like hours, about different equations and how to solve them. I only peeked interest when I had to write down all the notes but most of the time I just stared or drew aimlessly.
After the teacher FINALLY stopped talking, I took one glance at my math book and decided against doing some work but that wasn't my problem. The thing was, was that I didn't want to talk about what was wrong with me...and knowing Jeremy, he was most defiantly going to ask.
"So...is everything ok?" He asked as we were dismissed.
No
"Yea," I said, still drawing circles.
"Are your sure?"
No.
"Yea..." I said.
"So you're not going to tell what happened to you?"
You wanna know what happened? I was stood up by a guy I thought actually liked me and on top of that my dress was ruined because I got caught in the rain. Oh, and the guy who stood me up keeps pestering me.
"There isn't much to know," I replied, staring at my math book while remembering what happened.
"Right."
And that's how our conversation was left. Not that I minded all that much but my friends were starting to annoy me. They kept wondering what was wrong and why I was so sad, the best answer I could come up with was that it was about "Tyler". But that wasn't going to fool Charice. I had to tell her that I had some 'family' stuff going on. I hated lying to Charice but I still wasn't ready to tell her about Jake.
When I felt my phone vibrate for the 100th time, I cracked it.
"Stop texting me!"
"Well, sorry," I heard a voice behind me. It was the one I recognized all too well.
As I spun around on my heel to face the person, I let his name escape my lips, "Andrew."
"I guess you're not really in a good mood?" Andrew asked, raising one of his eyebrows.
"Ah..." I looked at my phone and then slipped it back in my summer dress pocket, "no, not really."
"Tyler?"
