I was walking down the empty corridor, I had stayed behind after class was dismissed, when I saw the familiar long brown hair looking down at a girl. I knew it was none of my business to get into Neal's affairs but I couldn't help it. I'm a person who need to know things, and I dislike this trait because it always gets me into terrible trouble.
The little girl that I saw had extremely dark curly brown hair...and she seemed to be crying. I waved at Neal, who shot me a smile as I passed the doorway of the corridor. When I thought I wasn't being watched, I stopped dead in my tracks and walked over to the doorway. I pushed myself against the wall of the exterior of a classroom and tuned into their conversation.
"Neal...(sniffles)...I made...th...this...for...y...you," the girl sobbed.
I heard him sigh. What was going on? Did this girl like Neal? If she did, why was she acting like he was a god?
"Thanks..." I heard Neal said. By the tone of his voice, this seemed like it wasn't the first time this happened.
"Your...wel...come..." The girl continued sobbing.
What the hell is going on? Why is this girl crying? I feel like I'm in some spooky horror movie...and soon or later some scaring looking face it going to come out scream.
"I have to go..." Neal said awkwardly.
" 'Bye," the girl said softly.
That's when I realised Neal was about to walk through that doorway and notice me. I then decided to run down the stairs with my books and to the first place I found, which was the girls' toilets. I stayed there for about the longest and most accelerating minute I have had in a long time, then walked out. I immediately bumped into Neal.
"Oh hey Fay," Neal said, butterflies were beginning forming in my stomach. I took a sip of water from the tap that was across from the girls' toilets.
"Hey," I said, smiling widely. I was hoping he wouldn't notice my nervousness but knowing me...he probably would. My eyes darted to the little box that must of been given to him by the little girl.
"Where did you get that?" I asked, knowing exactly where he got it from, I just wanted to create small so that I could calm the butterflies in my stomach.
"Oh...ah...it's my brother's...I mean it's for my brother," Neal replied. His face was neutral. He defiantly knows how to lie.
I decided to play along. I didn't really want to press the issue on him plus I didn't really want him to know that I was spying on him...that would be soooooo weird.
We walked together to our lockers and once we got our stuff together, we walked to our hang out and I found Olive and Ellie not sitting on the stairs but the proved benches that were across, diagonally of course, the stairs.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked, walking up to the two girls.
"Oh T-Bone farted," Olive replied, swiftly placing a chicken twistie in her mouth.
"Oh," I said, recognition spilt across my face. When Trip pops one, it is not good and sometimes he can clear a whole classroom. Believe me, it's been done before.
"Yeah, we are here...healing from the injuries," Ellie said, clearly disgusted. I could feel her shudder inside.
"What she means is that he really caught us off guard," Olive translated, grabbing more chicken twisties and dropping them in her mouth.
"And yet you should know more than anyone to be prepared..." I commented with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah well, I just don't know," Ellie said in a baffled expression.
"Okay anyway, you are not going to believe what I just saw!" I said, remembering the scene this morning. It was too bad that Charice was off today, sick of course. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to tell her when I get home.
I sat down next to Olive and leaned across her to whisper to Ellie.
"What did you see?" Ellie whispered, intrigued.
"I saw a girl...give Neal...a box of something," I said.
Ellie's eyebrow raised. "Oh wow, a real crime there."
"No, that's not it, she was crying, sobbing!" I said, in an assertive tone.
"Maybe she didn't wanna give it away?" Ellie said in a dismissive and sarcastic tone.
"That's not how it sounded. It sounded...like...like...she was getting an autograph signed by her favourite celebrity!" I said, finally finding my words. I looked over to see if Neal could hear me and good thing he was being hooked into a story that Trip was telling.
"Are you for real?" Ellie's eyebrows raised in astonishment.
"Yes!" I whispered loudly.
"Why the fa-"
"I don't know," I interrupted Ellie before she could swear.
I heard Olive clear her throat in my ear and both, Ellie and I, turned our heads to look at her.
"I know," Olive said.
Then Ellie and I turned to look at each other and we both raised our eyebrows as if we were mirroring each other.
"What do you mean you know?"
