Broken Inside

Chapter two

When we entered the airport, I went straight to one of the vending machines on the left of the entrance and opened the backpack and took out two dollars. I tried to flatten the dollar so it won't get crinkled. When the vending machine finally took the dollar I took my snack.

My brother went to check us in, while I stood by the vending machine, with a small bag of skittles and our luggage.

He came back to grab his luggage and we bothe went three the metal detector and gave them our luggage and we both had our backpacks we had as carry ons. after that I followed him to the waiting area for our flight.

The entire time we were waiting none of us spoke to each other. We didn't even look at each other. I looked at Axel, he was looking out the big glass window in front of us just dozed off.

"What time is it?" I said trying to break the silence. He look at me with his dark eyes then look at his phone.
"6:35." he said standing up. We should start ge- "
A loud speaker interrupted him, saying the names of the flights that were opening the doors so passengers could board.

"Let's go" Axel said gesturing to the direction of the door to enter the plane.

While we were walking to the door a lot of people started to crowd near us. I looked at my brother and tried to keep up with him because I didn't want to get lost.

Finally we entered the plane and took our seats which were on the left side of the plane. I had the window seat and he sat on the far end where the aisle was which left the middle seat open.

"Carmen, when we get to tia's house I am gonna fly back here to get my car and drive on my way back. It might take a few days so I'm just telling you now." He said taking out two small bags of Doritos and two bottle of water. He handed me one of each and we both started eating while people started boarding.

" Did Tia Linda already sign us up for school for next week?" I asked while licking of the cheese from my fingers.

Axel sipped some water then closed the lid and nodded his head.
"When you enter the school the secretary will have your schedule door you." he said as he finished the last of his chips.

After a few minutes the plane finally started to lift off.

I checked the time on my phone 7:50.
Axel already started to get out a blanket and let his seat fall back and was asleep.

I took this as my chance. So I got up and snuck to the bathroom.

I walked quickly and opened the door and shut it behind me.

After that I waited a while and took out my pack of cigarettes, lighter, some duct tape, air freshener and perfume.

My craving has been worse this week and nobody knows about me smoking. I've been smoking for 2 years because it helped me with my stress but since my moms death I had no time to be alone. Maybe in California I could find some drugs down there since it's legalized for medication.

I ripped a piece of duct tape an placed it over the smoke alarm then I lit a cigarette took a long puff and blew the smoke. I instantly could feel relief.
