The next afternoon, Duchess finds herself back on the HMS Pogue with her friends, laying out trying to get a nice tan. Next to her, JJ is sitting, relaxed, unconsciously running his fingers through her hair that is fanned out on the deck.

JJ whistled. "You guys see that?" Duchess propped herself up on her elbows and looked in the same direction as JJ. "That's the Malibu 24-MXZ, the world's finest wakesetter. Number one in luxury, quality, and performance. 200K easy."

"I'll care about fancy boats when I can afford one," Duchess commented.

"We picked the wrong parents," Pope mumbled.

"I hate to break it to you guys but that's Topper and his girlfriend," Kie warned. As the boats passed each other, the Pogues stared down Topper and Sarah. Sarah pretended like there wasn't another boat in the water.

"You don't have to act like you don't see us, bitch," Kie was loud enough to make sure Sarah heard her.

After relaxing for a bit on the water and being normal teenagers, it was time for the Pogues to get back to work. Internet was still down on the cut, but of course Figure Eight was back up and running.

"Why don't we just use their Internet," JJ had asked when they were brainstorming.

"How," Pope asked, "You got any Kook friends that will let you connect to their hotspot?"

"No," JJ answered, "But I do work in Figure Eight."

And that is how the Pogues wound up at the country club, JJ's place of employment. Duchess wondered how the hell JJ kept a job at that place. He hated Kooks more than anyone. Money is money, She answered herself.

"Alright," JJ said when they parked," Keep a look out. We're behind enemy lines." He pulled out the gun and checked to make sure it was loaded.

"Really, JJ," Duchess asked when she saw the weapon.

"What, you can never be too careful."

"Hey," Pope said, leaning against the passenger side door," I predict that bringing a weapon to a four-star hotel will likely cause more problems than they solve."

"Thank you Pope," John B agreed.

From the back of the van, Kie peeked her head in between JJ and John B. "I swear to god, I'm gonna throw that thing in the ocean, JJ. Put it back."

John B grabbed the gun from his friend's hand and put it in the glove box of his van. "You can't grab a gun like that," JJ complained. He rumaged through his bag again. "Can't forget my badge."

He exited the van and held his badge high so his friends could see. "Professional busboy."

JJ led the Pogues through the empolyee entrance of the club, and they made their way through the kitchen. JJ stopped a few times to either annoy or say hello to his fellow coworkers.
