"I don't want to marry her." Desperate, and panicked—Taehyung's hands shook as he spoke to his friend. His dear friend.

"I know." He said, eyes sad for his Prince. He stepped to the older and took his hands, holding them to try and give him comfort. It was small, such a small gesture. But it was enough.

Taehyung looked at the man with deep brown eyes filled with anxiety. The other's soft expression contrasted Taehyung's worried one, but they somehow fit one another. Polar opposites, but somehow fit perfectly.

"I know you don't." The man added, pulling Taehyung close. His words were soft, his tone thick with sympathy.

He knew this wasn't what Taehyung wanted. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. None of this was supposed to happen.

"I don't have a choice." He whimpered, words weak.

"But you do, My love." The younger man said gently, his thumbs rubbing over the back of Taehyung's smooth hand, their gazes never leaving each other's. "You are going to be King I'm merely weeks." He reached his hand to cup the side of Taehyung's neck, hating how sorrowful he looked. How panicked and frightened.

Taehyung shook his head, eyes glossy with tears. "N-No. I can't. I have to marry her o-or—" Taehyung stammered, free hand holding the man's risen wrist. He went silent for a moment, holding back his cries. "It's too late." He let out.

The man bit the inside of his cheek. He didn't want to give up. Not so easily—but what was there to do?

As a reflex, the younger leaned in, now centimeters away from kissing the boy. "It's not too late, Darling." He said softly, one hand drifting to Taehyung's waist, pulling their bodies together.

"Love.." Taehyung let out, not having the strength to pull away from the younger. He always felt most comfortable this close to him.

"You don't have to marry anyone you don't want to." He tried, his tongue dripping with plead. His eyes flickered across the boy's face, studying his beautiful features.

Taehyung forced himself to push him away, doing so with much sadness, "We can't do this anymore." He insisted, trying to convince himself of his words as well.

The younger's face fell, his whole being sinking at his words. But he was right, wasn't he?

No—this couldn't be the end. This could be how it ended between them.

"Taehyung- no—" He reached for Taehyung, but he seemed so far away. Like even their minds were far away from one another.

"I'm sorry." Taehyung whimpered, barely audible as he covered his mouth, leaving the room. He couldn't stay with him there for any longer because if he did.. he wouldn't have been able to leave.

And that was that. The younger stood in his chambers, alone. His heart crushed. But he guessed this was always how it was supposed to end.

He knew it would never last—but he always hoped it would. Although, now, that hope was all gone because tomorrow, everything would be final.
