A year ago, Lauren hated the rain.

Now each time it rained, she was reminded of someone. He wasn't a significant person in her life. She didn't even know his name. She only knew that he owned a black car and listened to loud music. She knew that his eyes were an electric blue, the kind that can send sparks shooting to your body.

Lauren didn't hate the rain anymore.

Why the sudden change, she didn't know.
She couldn't explain it.

It was raining that day.

A year ago, she would have curled up in her bedroom, reading a book. But today, she was walking down the street, a black umbrella in her hand.

The very black umbrella that he had given her.

It was her favourite. Perhaps because it reminded her of him.

The weather was just like it was a year ago. Thunder, lightning, annoying raindrops. But there a lot of people on the road that day. There were honking horns, babies crying, people shouting over the phone, tapping of shoes against the pavement.

Lauren stopped at a bookstore. There was a black car parked outside. A very similar black car.

She folded the umbrella and went inside.

Her eyes widened.
