POV Racetrack
It's been a whole six months since Brooklyn moved in. And lemme tell yous, it's been da best six months of me life.
We's got a good routine goin on. I go off ta Sheepshead with me papes and she goes off ta sell with Skittery.
When she finishes, Skittery walks 'er over ta Sheepshead and we spend da rest of da afternoon togetha. We watch da races, I place some bets- It's poifect.
We go out all da time too. Even though, we's busy with woirk, we still make it happen. We still have fun.
We go ta Tibby's a lot, cheap bars, Medda's shows, and have a bunch of rooftop dates. It don't matta much ta me where we go, as along as Brooklyn's with me.
She's graduated from games like War and Blackjack. I's taught 'er ta play Poker but 'er favorite is Crazy 8's. She ain't beat me yet, maybe with more of me guidance, some day she will.
Me and 'er brudda Pat also became friends. Me and Brooklyn go ta his house at least once a week ta eat dinna. I's love hearin him tell stories 'bout 'er when dey was kids.
Pat even told me he thinks I's lawyer material. When he foirst said dat, I's laughed.
Me a lawyer? Fancy suit, shoes, and briefcase. I don't got an education! But he told me he'd be more then happy ta "mentour"me. Whateva dat means.
I told him maybe in a few years because like Brooklyn, I's like where I's am now. I don't wanna grow up yet.
Anyways, da year now is 1899, and things are gettin weird 'round here.
Today, Weasel jacked up da prices 10 cents and everybodys on edge. Jack's talkin bout goin on strike.
But I don't know about a bunch of rowdy kids goin up against hot shot adults. It's a rigged deck.
Brooklyn supports Jackie one hundred percent. She even went with him, Boots, and a new newsie called Davey ta talk ta Spot about joinin our "strike".
I's know Spot will easily get da rest of Brooklyn on board. If he joins da strike, we's might actually be able ta get da message across. But that all depends on if Spot does decide ta join.
But, I's not worried. We's all togetha and happy.
What could go wrong?
