POV Racetrack

Brooklyn had long day and I was so happy she decided ta come ta Medda's with everyone. We's were doin da best we could ta cheer 'er up. In da small time she spent at da lodge house, she had become an important memba of our family.

I's finally felt like my life is fallin back into place. For da foirst time in a long time.

Medda put on an amazin show. She preformed a few new songs and wore a dress dat nobody seen before. It had everybody goin, let me tell ya.

I sat at da front of our Manhattan balcony with Brooklyn under me arm. She was smilin and singin a long with da rest of us. It was real nice ta see.

After da show, I decided instead of goin ta Tibby's with everyone else, I was goin ta take 'er ta da bar I showed 'er last night.

Inside dat is.

I'd neva brought a goirl ta a bar before. I's always went ta bars with da mission ta get fucked up with my friends. But tonight it was different, I wasn't lookin afta just me self. I was lookin after Brooklyn who don't got da best drinkin record.

I's also want ta go ta be alone with 'er. I's want ta dance with 'er in da place dat plays me favorite music.

Plus, I's neva actually been inside dis bar and figured it should be with 'er. After all, It is a place I's usually watched from a distance.

We walk in and take two empty stools. I hand da bar tender two quarters and he brings back two beers. Brooklyn looks at me with 'er big blue eyes.

"Race, that's a lot of money. Is beer always this expensive?"

"Beer is always expensive. But yous worth it." I chuckle.

I's start ta suck down me beer and eye Brooklyn carefully.

"Listen yous! Yous on a two beer limit tonight. I gotta train ya before yous can even think 'bout drinkin as much as yous did da otha night." I tell 'er grinnin.

She laughs but agrees with me.

We watch da people dancin togetha and I's see a beautiful smile form on 'er lips.

"Race, lets dance." she tells me.

I smile back at 'er, "I's thought yous would neva ask sweetheart."

We drain da rest of our bottles, hop off da stools and join da otha couples on da dance floor. It looks like they's gettin ready for a slow dance.

I secretly pray for anotha Frank Sinatra song.

Instead, I's get somethin almost as good. Paul Anka.

(Put Your Head On My Shoulder Plays)

I place my hands on 'er hips and she wraps 'ers around me neck. I smile down at 'er and listen ta da song.

Put your head on my shoulder

Hold me in your arms, baby

Squeeze me oh-so-tight

Show me that you love me too

She smiles back at me and gives me a peck on the cheek. I blush.

'Er lips are da softest things I's eva felt.

"Oh c'mon. Yous could do betta den dat." I tease.

She scrunches 'er nose adorably before leanin in dis time for a long kiss.

Dis time, I's can no longer hear Paul Anka's song and I'm completely zoned into our kiss. It's like da whole world around me stopped and disappeared and I's standin here alone with da most poifect girl.
