Staring down at the disappearing crowd of mutts, we all waited with baited breath for what would come next. Rather than later it happened sooner than I believed it would. The boy that we had helped up just a few minutes ago was suddenly sprawled on the ground with a knife sticking in his back.
Turning around I face Rouge as she grins at me with dark eyes. "It's about time we stopped playing family, yeah?" She smirked.
Shooting a glance at Dahlia and Freyer to make sure they were okay, I made sure to prepare myself for the next thing I would do. Gathering up all of my courage and looking ahead, I run at Rouge and with all my might bring her down with me.
We both immediately land on the hard ground with a thud. Groaning in pain, Rouge tries her hardest to push me off of her before grabbing at my arms. "Get... the hell off... of me!" She shrieks before using all of her energy and pushing me back.
Grabbing at my knives, I brandish one in both hands before staring ahead of me at my enemy. On top of the Cornucopia I could already hear Freyer and Xander fighting. I could only hope that Dahlia was somewhere safe.
Swinging her sword in her hand Rouge and I circle each other to find any weakness. "I never expected you to last this long. And to become allies with those two," she snickered.
"I never expected you to get along with Xander. How was that working out for you?" I ask her as a way to distract her.
"He was boring," she replied. Just as I predicted, she quickly runs at me with her sword prepared to strike. Twirling my knives in the right position, I swipe at her incoming strike and slash at her leg. Because she had aimed higher up it left her lower body open.
Stepping back from me with a shriek, she puts her hand over her seeping wound on her thigh and glares at me. "Have I ever mentioned how much I hate you?" She snarls before beginning to run at me again.
We continue to go back and forth with our fight, the two of us each obtaining wounds from one another's weapons. Pushing at her with a huff, I pull her to the ground and wrestle with her as I manage to get her sword out of her hands. Throwing it to the side, I swing a punch at her face and wince as my hand bristles from hitting her face.
Her nose now bled profusely, most likely from a broken nose, and her hair was no longer as tame as it once was. But I also had my fair share of problems just as her. "Give up already!" She growls as she grabs my hair in her hand.
Throwing me on the ground and hovering over me, Rouge begins to punch. Each strike brought me closer and closer to blacking out. Her hits left me numb with pain as she continued to unleash her anger onto me. Until she was no longer on top of me.
Pushing back the pain my body now held, I quickly got up and witnessed Dahlia trying her hardest to fend against Rouge. She never stood a chance against Rouge as she now laid underneath her. Looking around me I notice Rouge's sword still laying only a few inches away. Picking it up, I begin my short trek over to the two of them.
Rouge now had Dahlia by the neck, her hands suppressing Dahlia's oxygen. The sword wasn't my weapon of choice because of how heavy it was... but in this moment it was the only weapon that would kill Rouge. Even one of my knives wouldn't suppress her anger and need to kill. So with that, I struck the sword into Rouge's back. Almost immediately her hands slackened, allowing Dahlia to breathe.
Falling to the side, she gripped the blade that protruded from her stomach and looked over at us with teary eyes. Blood gushed from both her wound and mouth as she struggled to breathe until her body stilled, and her eyes remained open.
The cannon fired.
Rouge was dead.
