Waking with a gasp I spin to look around me to find Dahlia sitting next to me with a bloodied cloth in her hands. "You're awake," she smiled weakly.

"Where's Freyer?" I ask her, my body shaking with fear.

"He's off at the creek getting more water. He'll be back soon," she replied as she handed me the cloth. "You need to keep this on your wound. You're lucky you haven't bled out yet."

"I need to find him," I sigh before struggling to get up.

"Just stay still!" Dahlia shrieked. Shocked I turn and suddenly see her in a new light. She was no longer the innocent girl that she was previously and it had become increasingly more obvious that the arena has changed her. Her face no longer held any light- but a pale darkness that came from the lack of sleep and the blood that has been spilled over the past few days.

Sitting back down I decide that it wasn't time to start getting back into control just yet. "Freyer didn't want to kill anyone else but because of you he did. He hasn't been able to sleep for days now," Dahlia explains with a sigh.

"Days? How long have I been out?" I frown as I turn to look at her.

"Two or three days. Freyer's been going crazy too, staying up all night and making sure you didn't bleed out. He claims it's all his fault for leaving you alone." Dahlia said, her fingers playing with the grass underneath her.

"What's happened?" I ask.

"Besides those two from days ago there's been one other. The Careers are still alive," she said.

The sound of boots crunching through the grass and leaves brings me to my feet. Freyer was stalking back with three water bottles and a squirrel. Walking up to him, I take the water bottles from him. "Are you okay? I know you didn't want to kill anyone else but-"

Before I could finish my sentence I was shocked when his lips fell on mine. Eyes wide, I was unable to comprehend what was happening before Freyer pulled back and placed both hands on either side of my face. "I'm so happy you're okay. You weren't waking up," he sighed as he looked me over.

"I'm sorry..." I managed to say, the shock of the kiss still reeling in my head.

"I wanted to do that before anything else could happen. I was so scared that I had lost you and I wouldn't ever get to tell you how I feel," he explained.
