Chapter One

“Hey...stop what are you doing, LET ME GO!”

“How much propofol did you use?” “She should have been knocked out by now.”

“50mg like normal.”

“It was enough for the last creature.”

“Maybe she’s different?”

The nurse smiled as he caressed her face and injected her with an extra 50 mg of the drug she looked up at him as her eyes fluttered shut.

“Put her on the table we have to inject the device”

“Yes doctor”

Everything around me was beautiful, I saw my friends, my family, my people.. I saw him. I watched everything fall apart right in front of me and I tried...I tried so hard to save them but no matter how fast I swam or how hard I fought my powers were no match for the greed of the human race.

“AAAAAHHH”

“Hey, hey it's ok you don't have to be afraid im Kal and I work here do you know where you are?”

I shook my head and looked around. It was a light blue room with a big window that looked out to...actually 

 I'm not sure where. I looked down and my tail was gone which I wasn't extremely concerned about since there was no water anywhere. My dark brown skin looked dry and my hair felt rough, how long had I been there? My powers feel..strange and my senses are weakened. I can't hear anything but this strangely attractive man trying to ask me questions, I wonder what these walls are made of.

“What have you done to me?

“Ah so you can hear me, as I said before my name is Kal and I work at the Research Facility of Genetic Mutation which is where you are”

I continued to listen while looking around trying to avoid his gaze

“Do you like walls? I thought you would because of the whole mermaid thing, but maybe that wasn't a good idea I don't know.” He chuckled nervously

“The color of the room doesn’t matter, WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?”

“You've been injected with a chip that will allow us access and control to your powers and transformations, Doctor Reyes thought it would be best for mankind if you were here with us.”

“If this Doctor Reyes had any brain cells he’d know what I've been doing for society, have you noticed how pollution levels have gone down and how the overall state of the earth has improved I have protected my people from immense danger and you want to try to control me..well let me tell you this I am much too powerful for you and you will never keep me here”.

I was too wrapped up in my speech for me to hear the door close and see a man walk in. He was an older man but still attractive. He had black hair that was slicked back, olive skin, and dark brown eyes. He looked me up and down and smirked then he walked towards the window, looked for a bit, turned around took a deep breath then finally spoke”.

“Hello miss Waters, I am Dr. Reyes and I'm so glad to see that you are awake and well, Kal how are her vitals?”

“Everything’s normal doctor.”

“Great, now leave us”

“Yes Doctor.”

“Nala Waters protector of the seven seas, master of the elements and an 18-year-old mermaid, which frankly is something I never thought I would say haha..i never thought you would be here you see I know everything about you like how your eyes turn depending on which element you control just wow.”

“Great job sherlock you can read I'm glad my Wikipedia page was helpful in yo little investigation so now that it's clear you know who I am and what I can do you will let me go now.”

“Yeah that's not how this works”.

“Fine then you’ve left me no choice"...I closed my eyes, opened my hands wide and tried to relax but nothing

What was happening why aren't my powers working I could feel my eyes changing but nothing was happening 

“Oh yeah by the way your powers don't work until I allow them to remember that chip in your neck yeah whatever you were about to do to me won't work now time to go to sleep.”

He walked over to her and injected her with the drug “sweet dreams”
