10:10 am May 17th Research Facility oF Genetic Mutation

I rubbed my eyes as I heard a calm voice call my name, “Hey Nala, how are you feeling?” It was Kal.

“I’m fine, but I would like to know something. Where am I? How long have I been here? How long will I be here? Am I the only one?”

“Ok slow down, you are in the research facility owned by Dr. Reyes located in San Francisco California, you’ve been here for 2 days, you’ll be here for as long as Dr. Reyes says and no your not the only one.”

I wasn't the only one, what kind of sick operation is this, how many of us are in here, and who exactly is us? AND WHY THE HELL IS THIS BOY LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT?

“Is there something I can help you with Kal or…?” 

“Wha- oh sorry I was just looking at...you”

For a muscular guy he’s really awkward, I’ve never known big dudes to act so strangely around me or around anyone but I guess he's different. It would be a good different but he’s working for the guy who’s messing with my powers so he’s bad... I think, he is cute tho. Wait Nala stop focus.

“Nala...Nala are you listening?”

“Yeah sorry”

“I know this situation isn't the best but since you have to be here maybe we could be friends?”

“You, after kidnapping me, taking control of my powers, and keeping me in this well-decorated room now want to be my friend?”

“You're right I'm sorry.”

“Since I have to be here maybe we could be friends.”

Throughout the day I learned a lot about Kal and he learned a lot about me, well not that much. I still can't trust him. I learned that his family is from Ohio and he moved here to study marine biology when he met Dr. Reyes who showed him what really lies beneath the waves. I also learned that he ate more pizza than the average person. I told him a little about my family and where I was born and some things that I liked but nothing past that. He seemed slightly disappointed when I wouldn't open up but oh well. I have to say I didn't hate learning about him, he is cute I guess. Looking at his face all day made me see that there's something there. Kal was in the middle of telling me a story from his childhood when Dr. Reyes walked in.

“Hello you two, aren't you getting along well.” He asked 

“Fine thanks,” I said not wanting to be around him

“You know Kal you should show Miss Waters around our wonderful facility. I’m sure she doesn’t want to be trapped in there all the time.”

“Right, of course doctor”.He turned to look at me,” Nala would you like to see the facility with me”?

“Yeah...sure”

“Oh isn’t that wonderful, Kal go fetch Miss Waters some clothes to wear. We need to have a chat, patient-doctor sort of thing, you understand”.

“Yes doctor”.

Kal looked at me and smiled as we walked out the door. Dr. Reyes cleared his throat and began to talk.

“Ah Nala, I see you're doing well but let's get down to business. I need you to retrieve something for me”.

“Retrieve what, what are you talking about”?

“As you know the chip I’ve implanted controls your powers and transformation so when I say you will go and you will get me a moonstone”.

“Ha. Are you crazy? Do you know how dangerous a moonstone is especially if it's in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it”

“I’ve been called that, but this time I am very serious. You will do what I say when I say it and I say bring me that stone”.

He was so close I could feel his hot breath on my face

“And what if I refuse”?

“Then you have no use for me, and I’ll have to kill you
