Being an Alien is not fun. You don't get to have a normal life, you get hunted down like an animal and you're dead before you know it. My name is Leo cooper. i didn't know my birth parents, i was told by sister marie that she had found me in the streets of New york when i was just three years old. I had been adopted three times by three different people. The first ones were normal at first. They named me Drew, the man bought me gifts, took good care of me and for a time, i was actually happy. Until he died from a car crash. The woman had begun abusing me, accusing me of bringing bad luck to his family. Sister marie had to come and take me back to the orphanage.

The other people that adopted me turned out to be international criminals and needed a cover from the F.B.I so they took me. In a couple of months, they got arrested and i was taken back to the orphanage. I had told sister marie that i didn't want to be adopted ever again. A latino woman came and i immediately saw kindness in her eyes. Sister marie introduced her as Ana. She named me Leo and told sister that she had lost a Ten year old daughter and just had a divorce with her husband. I felt sorry for her, it couldn't have been easy.

We live in New york until i turned fifteen. She was the kindest person i knew, she had never gotten angry at me.

It was the day After my fifteenth birthday that everything changed, everything became different. We moved to a town called Pinewood in California. It was certainly different from New york, everything was calm and quiet and i could hear the sound of birds chirping which i wasn't very familiar with.

A few minutes Later, we drove passed a sign that read : WELCOME TO PINEWOOD, CARLIFORNIA. POPULATION :10,535.

Ana continued to drive, we passed a car wash and cemetary then houses began to appear. They were spaced about thirty feet apart from each other. Sidewalks cut through small yards which lead to the front doors.

We drove for three more miles. Ana swung off the highway onto the gravel drive and a small house appeared by the trees. She eased the car to a stop. I got out of the truck, the engine was still humming. A dry wind blew down from the north and tousled my curly hair. I felt a chill run along my spine. I had a dark feeling about this town. Ana who had gotten out of the car noticed the look on my face.

"Are you alright mija?" she asked

"yeah i'm fine" i replied "just miss my friends, that's all".

she nodded. I had never knew anyone like Ana, she was the kindest person i know.

I grabbed my bag from the back of the truck and stared at the house for a while. It was a one storey building. Most of the milky white paint had began fading. Three wooden stairs lead to the front porch and the yard was long and shaggy.

"i know it's not much" Ana told me "this will have to do".

"It's okay mom" i said with a smile "I'm sure we'll get used to it"

She smilled back and nodded. That was the first time in four years i had called her mom and it made her happy. We walked into the house together. The living room wasn't much, a couple of furnitures and there were no pictures on the wall. I went up the staircase which led to a room i assumed was mine. I walked in and the sight of a bed greeted me, i was so tired that i didn't bother to take off my shoes. I just landed on the bed and dozed off
