Rain ran down the window of the cab. I watched it slide across the glass while Papyrus held our driver in an energy filled conversation about proper puzzle building protocol. Surprisingly enough, our driver seamed to be enjoying the conversation as much as my brother. The man was about average height, with copper-orange hair. He was thin, with yellow eyes, and a thin mustache on his lip. Form what I heard from his and my brother's conversation, he used to be an engineer, and still builds things in his free time.
When we reached our destination, Papyrus forlornly gave his salutations, and payed the Man for the ride. The man seamed just as disappointed for the journey to come to a close, But Papyrus reassured him that they may cross paths again in the near future. Stay that way. Okay Bro?
I flipped the hood of my jacket over my head, and Papyrus held his scarf to act as an umbrella as we walked toward the police station. It was a small stone building with large dark windows. "Alright Pap, I need to take care of something. Ya come'n, or do ya got other plans?" I asked. "I THINK I WOULD LIKE TO WALK AROUND WHILE YOU RUN YOUR ERRAND, UNLESS YOU NEED ME BROTHER?" Pap answered. "No, that's fine. Go have your fun." "NYH HEH HEH! I WILL RETURN WITHIN THE SECOND HOUR OR SO! HAVE FUN BROTHER!" Papyrus shouted over his shoulder, walking away. "I'm sure I'll have a peachy time, bro." I muttered turning toward the police station, and shuffling inside.
The inside of the Station was a little cheerier than the outside, with caramel tiles on the floor and counters, and a few warm colored pillars in the center of the room, of a reddish marble looking stile. I shuffled over to a counter where a human woman sat looking at a computer. "Excuse me." I said as politely as I could, Placing a hand on the counter. "Um.. yes? Can I help you?" She turned her head toward me, and I could tell she wasn't expecting a monster. We did just get our rights a little while ago, so that wasn't really a surprise. "Yes, I'm look'n for my family. We got separated when monsters got spread 'cross the world." She studied my face for a moment. "Okay, Do you have an ID I can look at?" "Yep,.." I fished my wallet out of my jacket pocket, and took out my driver's licence. "Here." I handed her the card. She studied the picture, and then my face, and then the picture again. She typed something into her computer. "Samuel? Is it?" I gave her a nod. "Ya can call me Sans." She nodded. "Who are you looking for, Um, Sans?" "Well first I need to find my wife. Her name is Frisk Gaster. She'd be the former monster ambassador." I felt pride bubble in my rib cage, as well as sorrow. The woman nodded, then turned to her computer again.
After a moment, she glanced at me uncertainly. "You say she was... your wife?" "yep, she is. What? 's there some 'No Human Monster Relationships' rule?" I asked, trying to keep the edge out of my voice. "No, not that I know of. But,... Um,.. I don't know how to tell you this..." She looked at me warily. "Frisk Gaster, uh,.. passed away.. Five years ago..." I stiffened. My head ached. My face and arms felt sticky, and I knew I was sweating. "No. no-no-no. S-she can't be... dead?" N-no. How? Wh-who did this?-Why?
No. no no no how could that even happen? how did she- Why hasn't the world reset? maybe her magic doesn't work above ground? She can't be dead. That's impossible. "um... she, uh, died in a house fire. Evidence shows that it was most likely one of the anti-monster gangs." My attention snapped back to the desk lady. She was looking at me with startled pity. I took a breath, and allowed my magic to relax. For the first time I noticed the inside of my sockets were wet. "what 'bout our... daughter? Geez, It's...it's been so long I... I can't even remember her name." The desk lady turned back to her computer. "It says Mrs. Gaster had a daughter named Emily,... but, she had no father, and it was presumed she had no living relatives." She glanced at me uncertainly. "What? but she does have family. Quite a few, actually. Can you tell me where she is?"
I needed to find her. She was all I had left. Her and Paps. No. Frisk must still be out there. Or else the world would have reset. I knew nothing about my daughter. I was never there for her, and she probably didn't ever know I existed. And I was sure that when we found Tori and Asgore, they would want to see their grandbaby. "No. Sorry, but I don't know if you are her real parent, and therefore, the information is confidential." She looked almost sorry. Almost. "What do ya mean?! Is there any way I can prove it? Please? I'm begging you, just... help me find her. there has to be something I can do." Throwing dignity out the window, I fell to my knees and clasped my hands in a begging motion. Like I have or deserve dignity anyway. The desk lady bit her lip. "I-I'm sorry. There's nothing you or I can do." I Jumped up and slapped my hands on the counter with an ear splitting CRACK! The desk lady jumped an inch out of her seat. If I wasn't so desperate, I'd have made a joke 'bout her jumping out of her skin. I shut off my eye-lights and looked her dead in the eye. She trembled in her seat. "I will do anything." She grasped a microphone-looking thing off her desk and pressed a button on the side. "Security!" She squeaked.
