Hello, everyone.
I go by the pen name Cadence Riverbed because my real name holds America's record for the longest last name currently alive...
Okay, let's get some things straight. That first sentence was a lie. Really, I have a pen name just like many published authors did and do, starting out in writing. In fact, I have two pen names to date. We can hash this out why people use pseudos, but I hardly doubt it's worth our precious time. The day is long and our writing day is even longer. If you use one for the sake of privacy but it's really because you don't want anyone to call you out on your work being that of an amateur, join the club.
I've been reading since I can remember, especially for school. I was educated at home until the age of seventeen when I decided to dual-enroll in a community college. Jane Eyre, Gone with the Wind, and Florence Nightingale are my literature heroes. I've also grown fond of Adichie and Achebe, thanks to a world literature course. I excelled at my first course, English 101 and have been an English tutor for a year, among other focuses. Only recently have I decided to follow my passion--I know, it's risky and often impulsive. Great things come to those who plan.
Something else, I've been writing for about eight years, but it got serious when I was fourteen. I plan on becoming a book editor for a professional house through either a bachelor's and related master's in communication or English, depending on my university choice. As of right now, I await another semester (current one wrapping up this week) when I will complete enough credits for my associate's degree. That said, I have a proposition and a dream for you.
I dreamed, last night, that I was hiding in a farm machine shed with a boy whom I'd never seen before but my sleepy mind was completely and hopelessly in love with--unfortunate--and on the run from mysterious people with ill intentions. Creative, I have to say. Not as creative as my proposal, of course. I want--for the pursuit of knowledge and practice--to critique your story.
When I said that, did you get goosebumps? Oh, my... I can write horror. I can also spot a good story in the making. If you would offer me the ability, I'd like o give you honest feedback that will encourage you to grow as a writer. Did I mention I offer some free critiques? That's right! No cost on select critiques. At the end of the week, I will give you your feedback and post a YouTube video containing the results as well. My channel is Cadence Book Reviews and you'll recognize the header.
So, are you interested in helping a fellow writer learn over the summer? Check out the rest of this book and give me a shout. I look forward to making your acquaintance.
Sincerely as can be under a pen name,
Cadence Riverbed.
