Two Weeks Later
Emilia
The next two weeks had flown by and before I knew it, we were less than 24 hours away from the day I had been dreading. Aubrey would be leaving for Amsterdam tomorrow afternoon. I had spent the past couple of days helping him pack. It was all becoming more surreal now looking at his luggage sitting against the wall in the foyer.
I didn't want him to leave, but I knew having him stay wasn't an option. Each day leading up to this point I felt myself becoming more and more emotional, but I held it together. At least on the outside.
Inside, I was on an emotional rollercoaster. Anxiety, stress, sad, nervousness. You name it, I had felt it at some point. We haven't been apart since we've been married. Going from that to almost a month at a time scared me. Especially with me being new to motherhood.
Will I be able to handle everything on my own?
One thing I did look forward to was spending the the day with him. He took care of all his logistics and getting things together with Oliver last night so that he could focus on spending time with his family today.
I was the first one up. Waking up in his arms would be one of the many things I'd miss. Snuggling closer to him, I gently played with his beard and kissed him on the lips. It didn't take long for him to start moving around. His hand gave one of my butt cheeks a squeeze and I draped my leg over his torso.
"What you tryna do?" he mumbled, eyes still closed with a slight curve to his lips.
"What you tryna do?" I repeated.
His hand lowered to the back of my thigh and pulled up and over so that I was straddling him.
"Do that thing that I like real quick," he smirked, licking his lips and moving his hips underneath me.
"What thing?" I played along coyly, even though I knew exactly what he was talking about.
"When you ride it like an equestrian," he smacked my butt, grabbed a handful and jiggled it, "hurry before the baby-"
Madison's cries sounded through the baby monitor that was propped up on the night stand.
"Can you get her? I got a lil situation going on down here," he referred to his full on erection.
Laughing, I rolled out of the bed and stepped into my slippers and headed down the hall to the nursery.
When I walked in and turned on her light, I was met with a beautiful surprise. On her dresser were two bouquets of flowers. One was a vibrant floral medley of lilies, roses and snapdragons with Madison's name on a card and one with beautiful pink roses, red roses and baby's breath with my name on it. Both from Aubrey.
For my two beautiful girls. I love you both beyond this Earth. Forever and always
- Daddy
"Awe, Maddie look what daddy got you," I picked her up and kissed her cheeks, "isn't it so pretty?"
Once she felt the comfort of being in my arms, she stopped crying. I pointed to the flowers so that her eyes would follow. She was fascinated by them, babbling and reaching out in attempt to grab. Her grip was a little strong, so I didn't let her touch. She'd snatch a petal off and put it in her mouth quicker than I could blink.
When I got back in bed, she had forgotten all about getting milk from momma and went right to her daddy. She laid on his chest. He made her smile playing peek a boo with the sheets. Her grayish-hazel eyes lit up every time she saw him. She kicked, babbled and laughed like the happy baby she was.
