Damian was woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a dog whining. He stirred a little but finally was able to get himself up to check on what was going on.
The dog was clawing at the door and sticking its nose underneath the crack. The hallway light was on and voices could be heard coming from Raven's room.
As soon as Damian opened the door, the dog darted right between his feet and made his way to the scene, leaving Damian a few steps behind.
When he reached the door he peeked inside, seeing the rest of the team surrounding Raven's bed. Dick had his hand behind her head to support her, as a few tears ran down her cheeks.
"I'm fine," Raven assured everyone and sat herself up, "But thank you all."
"Was it a vision?" Koriand'r questioned with concern in her tone.
Raven just quietly nodded her head. The dog ran up to the bed and whimpered, causing Raven to raise her head up and make eye contact with Damian. Her pale cheeks were stained with tears and her eyes looked sunken, as if she hadn't slept in days.
Damian didn't know what to say, he seemed like a stalker. But if his new plan was going to work he needed to establish a better relationship with her. "Sorry, the dog woke me up and I heard you all."
Raven just looked away, trying to ignore his gaze. Damian wore a puzzled expression when he saw this.
"Here," Garfield said as he made his way back from the kitchen with a glass of water. "You need to stay hydrated, Rae."
Raven took the glass, "Thanks."
"What was it about?" Dick decided to ask the question everyone was thinking about.
"I would rather not talk about it... sorry," Raven spoke up, "I promise it's nothing to be concerned about for you all."
The team all exchanged glances and obeyed her wishes, leaving her alone. Damian just stood at the door, unsure what to say.
"You don't look too good," he spoke up. It came out a lot ruder than it sounded in his head. "I mean, like you haven't gotten any rest in a while."
Raven didn't look at him when she spoke, "It drains my energy greatly when I have visions."
Damian's heart started to beat a little faster. Was it about him? What if she knows? No, if she knew she would've killed him by now.
"Like... a future vision?" he asked. Raven nodded. "You can tell me about it if you want," he offered.
Raven still avoided making eye contact with him. "I would rather not."
Damian let out a small sigh. "Want to sleep with the dog? I know this sounds stupid but... he actually helps me sleep."
"You haven't named him yet?" Raven asked.
"I don't know any good ones," Damian replied. "I've never had a pet before."
Raven has the faintest smile on her lips. "Are you sure you don't mind?"
"Yeah," Damian answered, "You gave him to me."
Raven pondered for a moment before responding. "Alright, I'll give him back to you in the morning."
"Okay," Damian said and then turned around to go back to his room, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Raven said and watched him leave, shutting the door behind him.
Once he was gone, her expression dulled. She reached over the bed and picked the dog up, letting him get comfortable on her bed.
She plopped down on the bed and let out a sigh, wiping the stray tears from her cheeks. Her entire body was cold and sweaty but she was too tired to care.
As she lay there trying desperately to fall back asleep, she couldn't get the image of her cradling Damian's bloody body in her arms out of her mind.
