Mohammad's point of view
I rest my hands on the sink, regretting what I said to anisah last night. Of course, she is acting so professional about it which drives me crazy.
I don't know why I get angry easily nowadays, maybe its the stress but anisah doesn't deserve it.
I couldn't get my eyes off her when she was combing her hair. I would say that I miss her already, her jokes that suck, laughter and many things.
I shake the thoughts away, I should apologize.
I walk downstairs and saw Ismail sitting in the parlor. Ismail looks at me then smiles.
"What are you doing here?" I say walking into the parlor. "Mother called me." He says leaning backwards.
I sit down, wondering why mama called him. Anisah comes in smiling as mama follows her behind.
Her smile faded away when she entered the parlor. I wasn't sure whether I was the one or Ismail.
She sits beside me, crossing her legs. "Welcome." Mama says smiling widely. "Mama, what happened that you had to call me?" Ismail asks leaning forward.
"Is it a crime to call my children? I can't see their faces anymore?"
"Anyway, your brother is refusing to come back home. He said he would come back since, before your sisters left for school. I don't know what to do with that boy".
She shakes her head. "He will come back to his senses, I called some people to put him on a plane back to Nigeria."
I clasp my hands. "That's unnecessary but you should try it. If he doesn't want to come back, he won't. No matter how many people you have there, besides he's an adult. He can decline."
Ismail explains, looking at me. It was like he was telling me about his situation. The more I see him, the more I despise him.
"You should just talk to him, Mohammad. If he doesn't, tell the same people you have there to look after him so he doesn't do something."
Anisah suggests, looking at me. Her point is the best so far, I might as well go with it.
"Okay." I say placing my hand on her lap, looking at her. "Look at him, when I told him to get married, he kept on running. Now am I the one that got married?"
She asks looking at us. I smile but Ismail fell quiet. "Is it true that you are pregnant?" Ismail suddenly asks.
She turned to look at him. "Yeah, I am." Anisah says blankly to him and he nods slowly. "Congratulations". He congratulates us with a sarcastic like tone.
"You should get married too." Mama tells Ismail. Ismail smiles, scratching his head.
"I will very soon, I'm trying to get on her good side."
"What's her name?" I ask him to know whether he is talking about anisah or not.
"There no need talking about it, you'll see." He shakes his legs.
"Anyway, we need get the baby's room ready. I need to start planning everything." Mama excitedly plays with her fingers.
We need to come up with something, fast. "Yeah, I agree." Anisah says when mama stands up. "I'll be back." She walks out, leaving the three of us.
"We should be leaving in an hour." Anisah says looking at her watch. "Don't worry, it will be alright." I say looking at her.
"I want to get it over with." She spats before looking at me. I hold he hand, kissing it. She gives me a weak smile, is that an act too?
"I know. " I say holding her hands in mine. I know that this is going to be the only opportunity that I have for a long time.
She glances at Ismail then stands up. "I'll go check up on mama." She walks away leaving Ismail and I.
"Trouble in paradise?" He asks, leaning on the pillows. "What did I tell you?" I growl, not looking at him. "I had to come over, mama called."
I stand up, shoving my hands in my pocket. "I don't want to see you here for whatever reason it is. This is the last time I will tell you." I walk out of the room.
*******We arrive at the hospital, sitting opposite hasneem. He was typing something on his keyboard. The room was silent, filled with only the clicks of the keyboard.
He looks at the both of us who didn't say a word to each other since we got into the car.
"What exactly is going on? My keyboard seems more interesting than you two." Hasneem points out.
"Its nothing, just don't feel talkative." Anisah says while she scrolls through her phone. "Okay, what is it you want me to do exactly?"
He clasps his hands. "We want an anti natal of one of the pregnant patients. A month and two weeks maybe or two months."
Anisah says as he sighs. "I would be committing a crime and my license might be seized." He says.
"Okay, how about booking a hospital room for me?" Anisah says as I furrow my brows.
Ismail's point of view
So far, the plan seems to be working. They are obviously not on good terms, like an argument. That Faisal is not so useless after all.
I place my arm on the handle of the cart, pushing it. I take a box of dark chocolate.
"Check, now I need....carrot oil. What is that used for?" I mutter to myself. "Salam." A man says to me.
I turn to see a very light skinned man, average height and not really muscular.
"Salam, can I help you?" I ask him standing straight. "I know that you don't know me. I found out that you are Mohammad Tafida's brother."
He says, why am I known as 'Mohammad's brother' than ismail? "What is it you want?" I ask so he could finish and I could continue shopping.
"I heard a lot about you from a friend of mine who is also Mohammad's friend. My name is Ashraf, anisah's ex husband."
I furrow my brows.
*****I stand waiting for Faisal to catch up. "Ismail, what is it?" Faisal asks. "I'm going to get straight to the point. You made them quarrel as planned and I have to reward you for that."
I say straightforward as he furrows his eyebrows. "Okay." He says in a tipsy tone. "That reward is walking out of this plan unscathed."
"What?" He exclaims, shocked. I look at Faisal and he looked like he was punched. "I want you to back out from the plan, I have no interest for your 'services' anymore." I drop a duffle bag in front of him.
He scoffs. "You must be kidding. I took a punch from that bastard the day before yesterday and you want me to back out. That isn't an option"
He shakes his head. "I am not asking you, I'm telling you. Don't do something you will regret later."
I threaten him. "Are you threatening me?" He asks as I let out a sigh. "I'm not repeating myself, you know what I said."
"Okay, fine but don't include me inside that fiasco for whatever reason." He takes the duffle bag with money and turned around.
"Faisal?" I call his name, looking at the sunset. "Yes?" He stops to glance at me. "Don't ever insult my family for whatever reason." He didn't say anything then walked away.
Mama's point of view.
I enter the house after meeting up with my friends. I felt tired from all the hassle so far when i heard my phone ringing.
I answer it while I walk upstairs. "Mama, anisah has been admitted to the hospital." I gasp in shock.
