Next Day

"So, how many years will I be grounded for?" Kai smirked. "Years? Don't you think that's a bit dramatic?" Kandice rolled her eyes. "But is it though? I mean we're talking about you. You're the definition of dramatic". Kai shook his head. "I was gonna let you off for at least two weeks, but the level of disrespect..." Kandice mocked him. "Oh no. The level of disrespect? I shall forever be sorry". "Whatever" Kai said. "Give it to me". Kandice stared at Kai for a long time. "Hello, do I have two heads to you?" Kandice groaned. "No. I was actually thinking of an excuse. Can't you take my switch? Or my Mac?" "I would. But taking your phone is more fun". 

1 hour later 

"Daddy, can I ask you something?" Kai sighed. "If it's about your phone, the answer is no". Kandice made that mischievous smile that Kai knew all too well. It was the same smile that he made. "Actually, I wanted to ask you about mom". He looked up at her shocked for a moment. Kandice never asked about her mom, and this current situation intrigued him. "Why do you ask? You never ask. Are you okay?" Kandice frowned. "Well, for starters, I'm never okay, but surprisingly, today I feel okay". Kai shook his head. "So, you're telling me that today you decided to take your medicine?" Kandice rolled her eyes. "I always take it. What are you talking about?" "I just act crazy". "Anyway, what did you want to know about your mother?" She sat down next to him. Laying her head in his lap. "Did you love her, like you love me?" Kai's eyes widened. "If you really want to know, I'll tell you this; I loved your mother unlike anyone else. I think she was the only one that I truly fell in love with, and she was the only person who could see right through me". Kandice smiled. "Baby, you remind me of her everyday. I promised her that I'd protect you always." Kandice looked up. "You love me?" Kai looked down, softly stroking her head. "Kandice, you know I love you. I'd die for you, if I had too. No one, and I mean no one will ever hurt my little girl. No matter how moody she can be, I'm always gonna love you". 

She sat up, and keeled to kiss his cheek. "I love you too, daddy".
