1 Month Later

Kandice is finally back in school but things seem a little bit odd to her. Alaric has been acting "crazy" towards her and she could never figure out why. She never understood why Josie had made the decision to break the Mora Miserium.  People looked at her strangely not that she cared. She was beginning to hear whispers again. Whispers about her father. Rumors were going around that Kai had betrayed the Saltzman's, but she was always quick to defend his names despite not even knowing anything in the first place. Kandice was afraid to come to the terms that her dad may have had a psychotic break.

Every time she called him, her phone would immediately go to voicemail, and she knew that this was definitely unlike him. He'd pick up the phone and answer back with something like "Kai's phone" or "So, you finally decided to give me a call. How convenient".  She wasn't exactly friends with Hope Mikaelson, but they were somewhat frenemies. However, they were similar in ways that people might not realize.

2 Months Later

Kandice knocks on Alaric's door. He doesn't seem all too surprised to see her. But he does notice the worried look on her face. "Kandice? What's wrong? Are you okay?" She shakes her head no. "Not really. Dad hasn't been returning any of my calls and it's beginning to worry me". Alaric sighs. He knows he can't keep anything from her so he knows he just going to have to come clean with her.

"Have a seat. We have a lot to talk about". Kandice looks up at him with a face that says "what did you do?" Alaric sighs before stressing the situation to her. "You're dad, is being held in a cell". Kandice looks up. With a shocked face. "Below the school" he continues. An angry Kandice stands up with a bright red face, that's arguably brighter than Kai's. "What are you talking about?" Alaric tries to calm her down, but it seems to be doing no good. "I told you, he's off-limits. You couldn't help yourself. Could you? You wanted to break dear Kandice's heart".

Alaric sighs. "If you're wondering why Josie hasn't been herself, why she broke the sand clock, it's because your father pressured her into doing it". Kandice licks her lips before continuing. "There's something, that you're not telling me. Isn't there?" Alaric doesn't say anything before Kandice snaps her fingers in his face. "What aren't you telling me?!" "Where's my dad? What did you do to him?"

"Kandice, I like you a lot. But you know I can't endanger my students. My kids." Kandice frowns at Alaric. "Answer my question. Where's Kai?" Alaric yells at her which makes Kandice made even more than she already was. "He's dead".

Kandice could hear those very words echoing throughout her mind. She looks up at Alaric with literal tears streaming down. "What?" She shakes her head in denial. "You're lying". Kandice gets up and exits the room with Alaric holding on to her arm. "Kandice, I'm sorry it had to be this way". "You're lying!" She screams.

She makes her way back to her room. She feels as if she can't breathe. Is it true? Did she just lose everything? Is she officially an orphan? All those thoughts were going through her head. She begins sobbing and the only words that can be heard from her are "Daddy".
