Joe Toye Headcanon #1

After The War

If You Were In Easy Company:

-When you came back from the war, he was already home after he lost his leg.

-So it wasn't one big home coming thing.

-It was just you took a taxi to his home and walked in.

-It was more of a surprise for Joe.

-Like when you walked in, he was drinking coffee and just looked up all confused.

-And when he saw you he dropped his coffee cup.

-Like it shattered on the kitchen floor.

-He tried to stand using his crutches but you were quick to run over and sit him down. 

-He kissed you so hard right then.

-Like that kiss was going to be the last.

-He just missed you and worried so much that you wouldn't make it.

-The entire rest of the day you two talked all day.

-Talking about how it was with each other gone, how Joe was making out and such.

-Ya'll were snuggled up on the couch the rest of the day. You didn't even change out of your uniform.

-Days with Joe after the war could be tricky sometimes.

-Especially since you were in the war too.

-That means both of you can be irritable on days.

-So that means quite a few arguments that end in tears.

-Usually it is Joe shouting because he isn't the best dealing with emotions

-So it usually the feelings of sadness, fear, and pain all focus in on anger with him.

-But, you understand because you had been through the same as him. And you understand the stress level of him losing his leg.

-But, he surprising apologizes after most arguments when you lay down in bed with him at night.

-He snuggled into you and whispered into your ear that he was sorry and how much he loved you.

-Those usually led to a lot of late night talks.

-Some happy and some were sadder than most.

-Though, no matter what you two fell asleep next to each other, more in love with each other than ever.

- Nightmares were common between the both of you. 

-So it was common for both of you to comfort each other almost every night.

-Though, you two work together through the times, especially with Joe only having just one leg.

If You Aren't In Easy Company:

-When you heard the news that Joe had been injured, you were told that it was minor.

-So when he was shipped back to the states and to a hospital, you were the first to get there.

-And when you saw him, you didn't realize his leg until a little while after.

-You sprinted to his hospital bed in tears.

-Like full breakdown kind of crying.

-I mean, you hadn't seen him in years so no one is judging.

-Though, when you realized he was missing a leg, you were frozen in shock.

-"They fucking told me it was a "minor" injury!"

-Joe was scared that you would leave him. 

-But, you loved him way too much to do that.

-This was simply just a bump in the road that you needed to get used to.

-And you were determined because this man was the love of your life!

-Once he got out of the hospital and back and you two's home, you best believe he proposed right then and there.

-Like literally as soon as you closed the door and turned around.

-He just kissed you and said that he wanted to marry you. More than anything.

-Of course you said yes and you guys didn't have a huge wedding. But it was nice.

-You have to deal with Joe's mood swings that are almost constant.

-It sometimes ends in tears, which are either yours or Joe's.

-Though, you understand that he can't really help it sometimes.

-But once he sees you start crying, or getting close to crying, he immediately stops shouting or talking.

-And he goes over and he starts apologizing profusely and getting all panicky.

-That is usually where he starts crying.

-It usually ends with a lot of hugs and kisses.

-When it comes to him and his nightmares, he tried to be closed off with them.

-But, after nights of him waking up screaming and or just tossing and turning in bed.

-You just told him straight up that this couldn't be a quiet thing anymore.

-And after that, each nightmare he had you were there for him.

-Every time, you cuddled him and held him as he cried.

-You loved him so much, and it broke your heart every time seeing him like that.

-After the war, you two were always together, no matter what.

-Couple goals honestly.
