Y/N L/N and Johnny Martin weren't the type to get along. In fact, ever since the two first met each other when their boots hit the dirt at Camp Toccoa, they hated each other. Two very strong personalities colliding with each other, where most of the times, it never comes out well. The two often bickered about little things. And by often, it means all the time. Over literally everything. And today was no different.

"Jesus L/N! Why the hell would you even think about trying to braid your hair instead of putting it up in a bun like normal?" Johnny came barreling in, pushing the door open of their bunking area. Annoyance laced between his words. Y/N had just got done tying her PT shorts and turned to look at the man. Crossing her arms. The other men already groaned, knowing that another argument was about to go down.

"Shut the hell up Martin! It wasn't just me that got gigged and hell, read the god damn regs for my hair! It says that my hair being braided and curled into a bun in fine! Maybe a hard head like you should actually read something for once!" The female hissed. Martin fumed while some of the guys snickered while lacing up their boots and pulling on their shirts. Y/N huffed, waiting for Johnny to say something.

"Oh real funny, surprised a woman like you even made it into the Airborne this far. With the amount of shit that you fuck just makes me think what I thought in the beginning. That a woman like you belongs at home, right in the damn kitchen," he smirked, loving the reaction he got out of the woman. Though, the reactions from the other men in the small bunking area weren't too different. Frowns covered there faces as they thought they Johnny Martin wouldn't stoop that low to make that comment to Y/N. There for they weren't too happy.

"Martin. the German's are going to eat your lunch. And I cannot wait to see it," Y/N hissed in return. Taking the chance to spit down at his feet. You swore you could see fumed shooting out of Martin's ears as Y/N smirked at him. Turning around to jog out of the bunk, tying her hair up into a ponytail.

"She told you off good there, Martin," Liebgott cooed, patting his shoulder while walking by. Heading out to get to PT formation. Johnny huffed, his eyes still on the door that the female walked out of. His chest heaving as anger coursed through his veins. His resting bitch face getting more angry. Randleman was sitting on his bed chuckling to himself as he tied his boots.

"What are you laughing about, Bull?" he asked, frustration clear. Bull just looked up at him and then around the two. Making sure that the rest of the men had left. The bigger man stood and walked over to his close friend. A small smile on his face while Johnny gave him a confused look.

"when are you just going to admit you are in love with her?" he asked, chuckling and turning around before Martin could stop him. His cheeks flustered red as he couldn't really form any words. His secret was out. Well at least to one person. And he was going to keep it that way. He huffed and threw his arms down to his side, stomping out into PT formation.

Y/N and Johnny's arguing got them  screwed over once again. They had been count arguing during a team course training when they were placed in a team. Sobel caught them bickering and sent them on a run up Currahee after the training. The worst part was that it was now pouring rain, pitch black outside, and freezing cold.

Their boots splashed through puddles as they ran up the three mile mountain. Mud splashing onto their legs and calves. Y/N huffed as her wet hair stuck to the back of her neck and slowly fell out of her ponytail. Johnny kept wiping his eyes so he could get the water out of his eyes. Their run was completely silent until they reached the top of the mountain. Trying to catch their breath.

"Was it worth it, L/N?" Johnny asked, looking up at her with resting his weight on his arms that rested on his knees. Panting slightly. Y/N looked up at him, her body in the same position, she shook her head and stood up.

"What is your problem with me Martin? You have hated me since the day my boots hit the ground Johnny. I tried to be nice to you in the beginning, and you weren't even that bad then. Now you seem to hate my guts. What did I do?" she sounded defeated. And frankly, it broke Johnny's heart. He didn't realize he hurt her this bad. He thought that if he was mean, it would make Y/N hate him and then maybe his feelings would just dissolve into nothing. But, to his dismay, his feelings towards the woman just grew.

"I never hated you Johnny, frankly I kind of liked you in the beginning. I just don't know what I did wrong," the clear hurt was strong in her voice. She still panted as she stood up straight. Johnny looked at her. His lips in a straight line as he just kind of stared at her. Not knowing if it was the time to come clean to Y/N or not. They sat in silence for a moment. That's when Johnny Martin decided tonight was the night. He couldn't keep hurting someone he cared so much about.

"Look, I don't hate you. I actually feel the complete opposite. It is just, ugh, why is it so hard to explain it to you?" he grunted, his left hand going up to grasp at his hair. He was scared to tell her his emotions. The big scary and mean Johnny Martin, all choked up when he has to express his feelings. Y/N just looked at him, crossing her arms over her chest. The rain pouring down onto the two. She just stayed silent, waiting for him to say something. Though, Y/N took a step closer. Testing the waters to see how far she can go.

"Y/N, I don't hate you. I just know that falling in love in the middle of a goddamn war was such a mistake. But I am just too far now," he rambled, the rain kind of making it hard to here as the water pounded down onto the now muddy ground of Currahee. Y/N took another step towards him, just looking in his eyes and nothing else. Her face straight as Johnny quickly stopped rambling to stare back at the woman. Swallowing slightly. This was out of his nature to be so worked up and nervous. It was like she made him an entire different person almost. She just gave him such a different feeling. It was an entire new perspective.

In a second, in the pouring rain, Y/N grabbed Johnny Martin's face and pulled him close. Any space that was left between the two now non existent. She stopped a second, her lips just centimetres away from his. Johnny's hands immediately went to grab on to the woman's hips. Not at all upset with the events unfolding.

Y/N quickly placed her lips onto Johnny's. A smile twitching up onto her lips as their lips moved in sync. It was something she had longed for just as much as he did. And now here they were, in the pouring rain, just after a three mile run, kissing each other. They were believed to be the biggest enemies on the face of the Earth in Camp Toccoa. And once again, look where they are.

The two pulled away, smiling up at each other. Y/N took a small step back. "Save all that mushy shit, I like the other Johnny Martin better," she smirked as Johnny just smiled and nodded. She shoved his shoulder and took off running down the path of Currahee. Stopping for a moment to turn and look at him. "I'll race you down, Martin!" Y/N yelled over the loud and heavy rainfall. And just like that, she was like a bullet. Shooting straight down the path. Martin laughed slightly and took off after her.

It was the start of something beautiful.
