I blew a strand of hair out of my face as I struggled carrying the large paper bags filled with groceries that filled my arms. Huffing as I stomped along the rain filled streets of Philly, my pumps going straight into a huge muddy puddle. Causing the muddy rain water to splash up my legs and right onto my new blue dress that I had just bought. I mean, it was already soaked from the downpour of rain that randomly came out onto the day. But I already knew as soon as I looked down at the bottom of the dress and the mud was all over it. Covering most of the white lace that was on the trim, that is wasn't going to come out easy. I dropped my head in defeat, my now wet mop of a head of hair flopping over. I picked my head up quickly and just sighed heavily. I was too drained to be too upset now. All I needed to do was just get home, change, and make dinner. Let's just hope I could get home in one piece first.
Of course, today just didn't go to plan. Just like the past couple of days.. It all started with me almost getting fired in the beginning of the week, that being Tuesday. I had woken up just a few minutes late, not a big deal. That was until I managed to dump scorching hot coffee all over my legs when trying to pour myself a cup of hot coffee to start my morning. Leaving mostly first degree, and maybe some second degree, burns that stung all over my legs. Which took about thirty minutes out of my morning, sitting on the counter with cold washcloths that covered my legs. Then another thirty minutes or forty five minutes getting ready, trying my absolute best to ignore the immense pain that shot through my legs. But, in the end, I showed up to work an hour late. And after getting torn a new ass by my boss and almost losing my job, I was able to keep my job and finish my work day.
Wednesday. It was my day off. My husband Edward was out looking for a job since he had returned from Europe not too long ago. So I was home alone with the puppy I had bought for him as a welcome home present. A small Golden Retriever by the name of Cash. A ball of energy and full of pure joy. It was a beautiful day outside and it was just me and Cash all day. So, in hopes of cheering myself up from the day before, maybe bringing cash on a walk down to the park and back in the beautiful weather would be nice, right?
Nope. Very, very wrong.
In the beginning of the walk, it was nice and calm. I was taking in the warmth of the sun as it beat down on my skin. The cool breeze that was combing through my hair. It was nice. My sweet Golden Retriever puppy pranced down the street on his leash happily. Like I stated before, nice and calm.
That was until he saw a squirrel. And like a flash of lightening, Cash sprinted towards it. And with the force he ran at caused the leash to be yanked from my grip. And off the canine went. After the gray rodent with the fluffy tail. You would never think an animal of such a small size running so goddamn fast. I sprinted after him, dodging people as they cursed at me since I bumped into them. My heels clicking harshly onto the sidewalk concrete as I went blocks for blocks it seemed like chasing after Cash. He wasn't even running after the damn squirrel anymore! He was just running!
It took me a good twenty minutes to catch the golden dog. Out of breath, now dripping sweat. I know, how pretty. I scooped up the canine in my arms, huffing as I began my trek back to my house with a fifteen pound Golden Retriever puppy in my hands. Which took another twenty minutes to get back home.
When I walked through the door, there stood my redheaded husband. Looking at my now disheveled and drained self. A small smile cracked on his lips as he eyes me up and down. Cash jumped from my arms and ran to Edward and began barking happily. How in the absolute hell did that dog have any energy left?! Ed just looked at my distraught face and just chuckled. I just slammed the leash down and called it a quits for the day.
And here it was today. Thursday. I went grocery shopping early in the morning whilst Mr. Heffron got some extra sleep since he had trouble with sleeping the night before. It wasn't bad outside, it was actually quite nice out. Around seventy degrees outside and the sun was out. I had gotten to the grocery store and all was well within the store. It was when I walked out and realized it was raining complete cats and dogs. And my arms were filled with bags of groceries. With no umbrella.
