Evan

Well, this one's gonna be a tough job. As soon as Tyler leaves, Kayla jumps in the truck and pulls in in the garage.

"Where do we start?" I ask

"Drawing out a plan and getting things ordered," Kayla replies

"So, we're not gonna let him pay for anything are we?" Zane asks

"No, we're not," Kayla says finishing drawing out the plan

"Zane, can you jump on the computer and order what we need for this job?" Kayla asks

Zane nods his head and logs onto the computer.

"Evan, help me get this thing apart so we can get to work and get it on the lift." She says smiling

"Um, guys we may have been found out," Zane says looking at us

We walk over to the computer and we see the headline 'Kane Brown's daughter and friends suspected to be customizing Stars trucks' and underneath it, a picture of Luke's truck.

"Call him," I say looking at Kayla

She nods and walks outside the garage.

Kayla

I call Luke and of course, being my 'uncle' he answers pretty quickly.

"Hey Kayla, I'm going to assume that this is about the headline, and I'm sorry about that. I had no idea that the paparazzi followed me to your house." Is what I get

"No one can find out unless it's life or death," I say and hang up

Walking back in, my friends look at me.

"We just need to come out and say it otherwise this is just gonna keep happening until we're legally old enough to open a shop," I state

"We should let your parents know what we decided to do when Luke told us what he'd do for us," Zane says

"How about we go do that now," I suggest

With that, we walk into the house and see my new family in the living room.

"We made our decision with uncle Luke's offer," I say getting their attention

"And," Dad says standing up

"This is what we wanna do for the rest of our lives, working on trucks and cars." Zane steps in

"So online school now?" Kate asks

"It'll be easier that way," I add

"Ok, now get back to work on Ty's truck and let me know if you need any help even though I doubt that you guys are gonna need any." Dad shoo's us away

Laughing we leave and start taking the hood off and doors off the truck so they can be painted, then I slide under the beast and take look at the bright blue lift kit that needs to be black along with the wheels.

"Did you put everything on express shipping?" I ask Zane

"The stuff'll be here tomorrow morning." He replies as he takes the hood and doors to the paint room

I nod my head and slide back out.

"We need to get this thing off the ground so I can take the lift kit off," I say

Z and Ev nod, I back out of the garage so they can lower the lift. I then drive back in but I realize that the steering wheel is off and take note of that and that there are no clearance lights.

"Clearance lights and steering wheel realignment need to be added to the list." I pipe up

The Next Morning

Zane

I quietly walk into Kayla's room and shake her awake.

"We need to get to work," I say and she groans

"I know I know." I keep talking and pull the covers off of her and carrying her downstairs

Sitting here on the counter, I pull out some bacon and eggs and start cooking.

"You woke me up at two in the morning but your letting Ev sleep in," Kayla growls

I press a kiss to her forehead.

"I had an idea and since your the boss, I wanted to run it by you," I say

"What?" She asks

"By the time we get the truck finished it's gonna be close to Ty's birthday and what if we put a new diesel motor in his truck," I say and Kayla perks up

"A total rebuild?" She asks

"Or we order it," I say

"No, I can rebuild the motor, it won't be hard, so I think I can do it pretty quickly and I think I want to add a custom emblem on the front." She says more to herself than me

"Do it," I say as we walk out to the garage

I watch in amazement as Kayla pulls the sliding doors open on either end.

"I don't get how you can do that, you're so tiny," I say

"Well, I'm a lot stronger than I seem," Kayla smirks

I spot the delivery truck pulling up and go to get the nine packages we had.

"Aren't you guys a little young to be running a shop?" The driver asks

"Aren't you a little young to be throwing your life away in a career that's not gonna get you anywhere?" I shoot back

The driver scoffs and drives away. I laugh and start opening boxes.

"This flame stencil is incredible!" Kayla squeals

"And so is this neon blue paint," I say holding up a chip

We smile at each other and head to the paint room to get started. Three hours later and one step is halfway complete.

"This looks really good, I should be able to do the second coat later today," I say

Soon enough I'm ordering new tires while Kayla's working on the steering wheel.

8 weeks later

Kayla

"Are you ready, Tyler?" I ask

"I guess." He says

"Ok, open your eyes!" I squeal

Note: everything is blacked out except for the flames and there are clearance lights

"How do you guys do it?" Ty asks

"Fire it up, see how it sounds," I smirk

He jumps in and turns the ignition on and the rumble of diesel fills the room.

"This was not a diesel last time I checked." Ty states

"I rebuilt the motor as diesel for your birthday present," I say sheepishly

"Well, I love it and can I post a photo on Instagram with you guys in it saying the truth?" He asks

We nod and I get lifted up on the hood with my boys on either side of my and suddenly the truth is out.
