1864 Mystic Falls Virginia
Klaus POV
I've come to the newly founded town of Mystic Falls hearing that Katrina has spent time there. Although as soon as I got there I learned that she is dead, knowing Katrina she is most likely still alive. I also learn that she boarded with the Salvatore family, and that all of them are dead except one.
Astrid Salvatore.
Turns out she is the youngest, and was sent away to school, so I compelled the entire town for them to think I'm her distant relative coming to get her. I watch in the shadows as I see a young girl that looks to be no older than 10 years old step off the train. She reminds me so much of her, from her eyes, to her face.
"Ms Salvatore?" The sheriff walks up to the girl. "Would you follow me and I will take you to the Gilberts" he said. Little did he know I already compelled the Gilbert family to forget about taking her in.
"That won't be necessary" I said as I walked up behind him. "Klaus Mikalson," I said, holding out my hand. "I am here to take Ms. Salvatore, and you will forget ever needing to take her to the Gilberts," I said into the Sheriff's eyes.
"You are here to take Ms Savatore and I will forget ever needing to take her to the Gilberts" he repeated in a monotone voice and walked away.
The girl looked confused and worried at me compelling the sheriff. "What did you just do?" she decided to finally speak up. I looked down at her in pity. "Follow me and answer all my questions truthfully" I said into her eyes. She then started following me away from the station.
There was something different about this girl, for someone whose entire family is dead she still seemed so innocent, and full of hope.
I asked her what she knew about Katrina and none of the information was new so I decided that I was going to take her with me back to New Orleans, where hopefully she can live the life she deserves.

Over the past few days, something in Mystic Falls seems, well off. I look at the white board in my room. I then decide to do something clearly irrational but totally rational at the same time. I write one name.
Klaus.
He has been in my dreams over the past few days. I then write down the name Stefan and then Salvatore. There is something different with Stefan, like something dangerous, that same feeling with Klaus.
What do they have in common besides that dark feeling? I look through my piles of random drawings to see a drawing of a man, "Klaus" I whisper to myself and then pin his picture next to his name.
I soon run out of conclusions then go back to reading my book. Bella just told Edward she knew he was a vampire. Wait. Vampire. Shit! That's what they are! I run off my chair and uncap the expo marker as fast as I can and write one word on the line between Stefan and Klaus.
