Dakota
I sit in a random table at the party. Kids around here think it's cool to be drinking like fools. If you're going to drink, do it for a good reason, or just no reason at all. Not because you want to feel cool around other guys.
I distanced myself from the other girls. They all seem to want to have a good time. I'm off for this. I just need a fucking cigarette.
"Can I have one?" I ask to a blonde girl with pierciengs all over her face. I focus on her face. It's Kati. I smile at her and her cigarette.
"Yeah, why not?" She passes me over a cigarette and a lighter. She sits on the table.
"So, why are you here?" She asks with a sigh. I look up to the rings of smoke.
"Escaping from home. Smoking. Skipping school." I shrug after I explain.
"Jesus. I'm here because I'm a fucking lesbian. And I smoke, and drink, and party a lot and do drugs." She blows smoke. I laugh a little.
"I should be going back with my friends and my girlfriend. She looks at the other corner with a group of some guys and a girl. "Wanna come?" I realize she asks because they know me already.
I look over. There's Gabriel, Ricky, Chuck and Kati's girlfriend. I shrug and follow her.
They all stare at me widely. "Bonfire girl, what's up?"
Chuck rises his hand so I can high five it. I stare at his hand.
"Oh, okay. Someone's a little weird tonight."
They all laugh but Gabriel and Kati. They start talking and I just stare at the ceiling. What are Clary, Alyssa, Melany and Tori doing now?
"Party sucks?" I look over to my right. Gabriel whispered in my ear.
I sigh. "It's okay." I respond.
"Smoking is your only passion is it? Let me guess. Mommy and daddy got pissed off at the smell of smoke and sent little bonfire bitch to camp. Damn, you high already?" Chuck laughs by himself.
What's his fucking problem?
"It's Dakota, jerk. We're all higher. Higher on intelligence, asshole." I get annoyed and walk away. Someone pulls my wrist. I pulk away brusquely and turn around.
"Dakota, don't listen to him. He's an attention seeker." Gabriel rolls his green eyes.
"I wasn't listening to him. That's why he thought I was high." I let out a little laugh.
"I like you Dakota." He says after laughing too.
I smile.
