I lead Cinder out of the room and to the waiting mini-hover that hasn't moved since Thomas parked it there. I open the door and help her into it. Then I go around the other side, Thomas is waiting with the open door for me, and get into the hover. Thomas shuts the door and climbs into the driver's seat.
"Where to, Your Majesty?" he asks.
"My suite, please," I reply. The hover starts to move in the direction of my room, which is right across from Cinder's.
"Don't you have some important meetings today? You can't skip them just for me! I was planning on spending my day in my work shop." Cinder says to me.
"I can and I will. Tomorrow is an important day for you, so I am spending all of today with you. Every one of the meetings that were being planned for today are rescheduled for tomorrow around my meetings that are planned for tomorrow." I give her my "you are not talking me out of this look' and she smiles like that was what she was hoping I would do. "While you are in surgery, I am going to be very busy, going from one meeting to the next, in hope that they won't let me worry too much about you. Though I have a really big feeling that it isn't going to work!"
"You never know the powers of being to focused on something! Maybe the day will be so intense that you will forget about me until you are down with your meetings and my surgery is finished." She has slight twinkle in her eyes. Oh no, what is she planning on doing now? She is going to be in surgery, but with her restoring Iko, the robot can carry out the plan for her....
"Kai? Kai? Katio, are you okay? We have been sitting by your sutie's door for about a minute," Cinder's voice pulled me out of my thoughts and back to the present. I blinked back into focus, realizing that she was right. Thomas was just sitting there waiting for his next orders. I climbed out of the hover and turned to help Cinder out. The folds of her beautiful blue dress moved as she took my hand and carefully climbed out of the hover, just like the princess that she is.
"Thank you, Thomas, that will be all."
"Okay, Your Majesty. Have a good time with Princess Cinder." I could have sworn that there was a twinkle in his eye when he said it. I smiled as I walked Cinder into my room. As soon as I closed my door, Cinder spoke.
"Why did you really have the scientists working on the project? Was it really just with me in mind or were you mainly thinking of the other cyborgs in your kingdom?"
I was so surprised that she would ask that; that I stopped walking toward her. "Are you serious?"
She nodded while raising an eyebrow.
"You still don't know how much you mean to me? You doubt my loyalty?" I can't believe I am about to do this, I think as I walk to my dresser and pull something out. "You're right, I'm not as loyal as you think." I walk back over over to where Cinder is standing. I take a deep breathe..in...out...and another.....in.....out. Then I go down on one knee. "Will you marry me?" I say as I open the box to show a beautiful ring that has a large diamond in the middle and rubies and sapphires surrounding it.
Cinder just stares at me, then starts laughing. "Wait," she says calming down. "You were serious?"
I smile and nod.
"Yyy......ye.....yes!!!!!!!!" She exclaims while rushing into my open arms. I pick her up and spin her around, ignoring the weight of the metal leg. When I am done spinning us around, I bend down and kiss her passionately. She kisses back with the same passion while my hands stay where they are and her hands go to their favorite place on my shoulders . After a few minutes, Cinder pulls away just enough to look into my eyes and says "I love you!" as one of my hands leaves her waist and moves to her left hand, sliding the ring onto her finger.
"I love you more, my beautiful future Empress." Realization shows in her eyes as if she was remembering that I am the Emperor and what it would mean to marry me.
"We shall see about that. There is so much to do, my future Lunar King!" I am the one who the realization this time because I forgot that she was a princess and the future Queen of Luna. When are we ever going to see each other? We will both have countries to run! I can tell that this thought hasn't occurred to Cinder yet so I decide not to remind her because she is getting really excited.
"Shall we go to the kitchen and get some food so we can celebrate our engagement?" I ask her.
"Yes but first we need to sent out a D-COMM to Winter, Torin, Scarlet, Wolf, Thorne and Cress to tell them the good news! It will only take a second." Her eyes go distant as she uses the internet she has in the corner of her eye. "We have two new messages, one is from Winter asking when I can do the next D-COMM Queen Session and the other is from the Travelers saying that they miss everyone, want to come back early and our wondering if they can stay in the palace.
"You can answer Winter on your own and just tell me what day you are using that room so I can have it cleared. Also tell Cress and Thorne ,of course, they are welcome to stay here for as long as they want. I make sure their room is ready." Cinder repeats the answers as I say them like she is typing them, which she probably is. She is done with all the messages two minutes later, including our engagement announcement.
"Okay," she says pulling back, taking my hand in one of hers and pulling me towards the door. "Time to eat until I can't look at food for another day and a half." I laugh as I follow her out the room and towards the direction of the kitchen.
