After the Lunar Revolution

Chapter 1: Cinder

        "What if I fail? What if I turn into a Levana and start ruling harshly and my people begin to hate me like they hated her? What if I lead my future kingdom to destruction?" I asked the picture that Kai had an artist painted of my mother. " You had such big expectations of me and what if I fail to meet them?"

        "But you won't because Winter and I will be there to help guide you, plus it's in your blood to rule a country just as it is in mine," a voice behind me answered. I spun around, startled. In the door way stood the most handsome man I have ever known. Kai walked into the room and made his way across my room and took my metal hand in his hands. "I know I am not Lunar," he said "but I do know a few things about ruling a country. Plus Winter will be there with you and she knows about being Lunar and ruling a country. By the way, that dress makes you look even more beautiful than you already are, which I didn't think even was possible." Kai pulled me into a hug, then released me, and lowered his head a bit and pressed his lips against my forehead. I leaned into them, closing my eyes and he ,in return, pressed his lips against mine. I kissed him back. My hands ,as if on their own, made their way up and around his neck while we were kissing. Kai pulled me closer to him. After what seemed like hours he very gently pulled away. I leaned my head against his muscular chest and sighed.

        "You are ,of course, right as always, but that still doesn't make me stop worrying. I mean you and Winter have known who you were since you were little children and grown up like that. I, on the other hand, figured out I was a princess and rightful heir to the Lunar throne not even a full year ago." I replied as he put his hands under my chin and raised my head to look into his eyes.

        "That doesn't mean you are more likely to fail, it just means you have to try a tiny bit harder to be successful. I even get scared when I am unsure of what might happen and I , as you said, have been raised to one day be emperor."

        "But how do you to do with your dad gone?"

        "You want to know my secret?"

        I nod, "What is it?"

        "I follow my gut and do what is best in the long term."

        "So you try to make choices that might not seem good to your subjects, but will in time works out to your country's benefit?"

        "Exactly, and do you know who's opinion trumps everyone else's?"

        "Your fan girls?"

         He scoffs, "of course not."

        "Princess Winter's?"

        "No"

        "Torin's?"

        "Nope

        "Then who's?'

        "Princess Selene's"

        "Wait, who?"

        "Princess Selene"

        " Wait, do you mean me??!!!!!"

        Kai laughs, "Well, your the only Princess Selene I know, so yes, course it is yours!"

        "But how could I be more influential then your closest adviser?"

        "Correction: YOU are my closest adviser, not Torin, just don't tell him that, he might not be too happy that a girl outranks him! ahaha"

        "But of all the people, why me?"

        He brushed his lips to mine "Because I love YOU, Cinder and only you, only you."

        "I love you too," I press my lips to his one time. "So why were you coming to my room anyway? Were you just coming to show give me some advice, or do you need something?"

        "Neither actually, I wanted you to come with me. I have a surprise for you."

        "Really what is it?" He grabs one of my hands and pulls me to the door and opens it.

        "If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise now, would it?" There was a mini-hover, that could go almost anywhere including around the palace halls, and a guard that was about to program where to go.

        "No, but just a little hint?" He takes something out of his pocket and holds it up. It's a piece of cloth that is in the shape of a long rectangle.

        "No and I need you to get in this hover and I will put a blindfold over your eyes so you can't peak and no using you net screen tracker to peak." The piece is slid over my eyes so I can't see.   "I am not sure, but I hope you love it."
